Baffling Selections
by MeetFireWithFire on Jan 17, 2011 11:25 PM  | Hide replies

1) Ashish Nehra: Most unfit Indian cricketer of all time. Of-late lost form as well. If he is chosen in the playing 11, is he potent enough to complete his quota of 10 overs? Even under South African conditions (which favors fast bowling), his economy is more than 6. Merit has gone for a toss in BCCI (as usual).

Indian fast bowling options are now looking pathetic, if Zaheer Khan is out of the equation.

India at best has the following bowling options that could potentially complete their quota.
      a) Zaheer Khan
      b) Pravin Kumar
      c) Harbhajan

Considering the form of Nehra, India would be relying on part timers for 20 overs in sub-continental conditions.

2) Piyush Chawla: Does not stand any chance in the playing 11. His selection is not quite convincing as one would have liked an extra keeper or a batsmen (who could bowl) would be a safer bet.

World Cup physio team will carry (and run) him on the stretcher to the crease and Nehra will bowl his seamers and swingers from the stretcher itself.

Ashwin better than Ojha and Chawla
by Sambar Idli on Jan 17, 2011 08:38 PM  | Hide replies

Just get the facts right for Ashwin bashers:

R Ashwin
==========
Matches: 7
Wickets: 14
Strike Rate: 28.2
Average: 23.21
Economy: 4.92

Ojha
======
Matches: 16 (15 innings)
Wickets: 20
Strike Rate: 41.7
Average: 40.40
Economy: 4.31

As you can see Ojha's performance is very ordinary when compared to Ashwin.

Injury Prone team
by Arun Nayar on Jan 17, 2011 07:48 PM  | Hide replies

Half of the selected 15 are injured or injury prone. I wonder if they will be able to complete the tournament with enough players:

Gambhir, Sachin, Sehwag, Praveen are all injured
Yuvi, Zaheer, Munaf and Ashish are injury prone and could break down at any time.

agree with you Arun, I doubt that selectors should have noticed last few years matches where more than half of the seniors are always injured, how can we expect them to be fit for a long tournament like WC?

Dr. Love- Re: Re: Immaturity on Rohit
by D S on Jan 17, 2011 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

high expectations only from few players.

when did you see sehwag perform well in all matches or for that matter Yuvi, raina or Yusuf. Dhoni is a consistent flop. but he is now a politician.

As i said earlier, this selection is good news.

"
Dhoni bBitch also made certain choices.

those who are left out in this politics should consider themselves fortunate.

Earlier every INDIAN know what india truly is and for whom it belongs, the better they would be.
"

who cares if INDIA WINS OR LOOSE, certain people should feel lucky if they dissociate themselves from india. On hind sight, if it happened to some of us 20 years ago, much better.
