if team fails it comes on captain, ganguly have played with in his limitation that he could do but franchise owners expectation was quiet high as ganguly reputation was high in media, when kumble retired with success ganguly should have retired with the same fact considering the expectation level, even gilly not looked promising in the IPL3 , and every franchise thinking about age factor of each player and fitness which is quiet unsure about the form also by the end of their 3rd yr, sachin somehow managing it with lot care and passion but for others like laxman and dravid was last chance as there is little room to help new or low profile franchises. T20 when started everybody did bowled like 50 over format now it has become very clever slow ball game and spinners game. except dale stene i donot see any successful pace bowler. over the time u fell like boring only
Not picked for multiple reasons. 1. Played too slowly in last season due to which other players were in too much pressure to score runs. 2. Eye hand coordination is just not there.. 3. Talks too much and no team likes it. 4. Always create political environment which does not help. 5. He should just retire in all forms of cricket and become a politician..after all he is the priceless "PRINCE" of KOLKATA
IPL is a reflection of overall worth of the player: performance or attitude or age!. The old horses: Tendulkar, Dravid, Shewag, Ganguly ruled the BCCI and formed a powerful 'Mafia' to hold their position and keep those that threatened their 'law'. There is nothing 'surprising' about the drop!. after all IPL is a private enterprise and not a government of India body!. The media brought comments like 'Ganguly is a crowd puller' who cares! can he bring a win is the question. It is time the old horses are sent away. poor greg he could not do it although he came with this assignment to clean up the stable for a young indian team for the 2011 world cup!

You seem to be an ignorant fool....Greg had a view to youngsters in 2007 world cup which he did to some extent and failed miserably....India thrown out in the first round itself...Nobody's staying in power...tendulkar, dravid, sehwag etc...remain in team because of performance and not because of money, get your knowledge right first, useless creep...

chappel idea is not bad either his luck was miserable, all young players were toured 1yr before world cup for most of young players that was first visit outside then few months before i think there are 1 or 2 series happened in india with senior players where succeded and then the decision was made on highly incomparable scenario is not a balance act. almost every player blamed coach they deserve blaming them selves , due high changes during post ganguly exit politics played huge that led greg exit one of the most tough time of his life i felt

1 Its all about performance.. Gangully was the 4th top most batsman who max max runs in last IPL.

The main problem with Ganguly, is not that he is past his prime...or his inability to bat field in the T-20 version, but that he is such a 'Big Name' now which makes it difficult to play him under any other captain and so fit in the scheme of things. So if Ganguly has to walk into any team, he has to be the captain. For KKR they had already had enough of him as a captain while in all other teams i guess all the captain slots were already taken.
My gut, before the auctions, was he will either be in Pune or Kochi teams.

Another factor could have been, that many coaches are from down under, where he is least popular.
ganguly was never that talented as a batsman (only in india he batted well)...he succeded as a captain ...mainly because rahul dravid played well and won all the matches for india...youngsters like harhajan, yuvraj etc....would have played well under anyone's captaincy as there were not too many choices amongst new players anyway....it was just by chance that he was captain.....he was really popular primarily becoz he was only player from bengal...otherwise he wud have been forgotten by the media by now...

u can't hit 10000 runs if u r not talented... and i dont think all the 10000 runs came in india.. he was a very good player at the early part of his career but later his game dropped a bit.. but it was for his captaincy tat he found a place in the team n the hearts of indians.. a true, charistmatic, agressive leader who changed the face of indian cricket.. tats wat he wil be remembered for.. more it was not abt players like yuvi and bhajji playing under any captain.. it was dada who actually recognised the talent in such youngsters n influenced the selectors to include them in the team..

you know indian cricket, Ganguly is much superior to SRK. He brought laurels to nation. Who knows SRK other than the P00rki's and Indians.

Are you crazy? Have you forgotten his hundreds at Lord's???
He was one of the best batsmen of his time, and a fantastic foil for Sachin in the one dayers...sometimes he used to out hit even Sachin!
I wish people wdn't bring down great cricketers past their prime in such ways - by judging them by their last matches. That's unfair and unjustified. At least be informed of players' statistics and careers before commenting on it.

SRK has taken the revenge of Ganguly defeating Pakistan in Pakistan. SRK now qualifies for for getting Nishan-e-Pakistan.

...and if Yuvraj etc. wd have played well under anyone's captaincy, why didn't they do so???
Don't forget that under him, we beat the mighty Aussies who were humiliating every team in the world.
