Dhoni saying that series would have been different if they won the toss at Centurion. It would also have been different if SA bowled first at Newlands.

Poor Loosers ---- SA is in the same league of Australia
by vikram sundar on Jan 07, 2011 01:39 PM  | Hide replies

South Africa did not have the courage to declare at 250 or 280 and instead they bowled on the bodyline to most of our batsmen. Intimidation did not work and so could not even take more than three wickets in a day, even in the last day, that reflects only their quality

losers ?. See captains make decision looking the conditions. It is easy for us to judge based on some test match we have watched in the past. Does the scenario hold true for this match as well is for the captains to decide. Its not so easy like you say.

You are right, Varu. However, if you had listen to the commentary on TV, Jackman and other SA commentators kept complaining that India is not making a match of it. Kept comparing, uncomparable Tendulkar with Kallis, at the stage of same number of test mataches of Tendulkar. Selective comparions of statistical data is paramount to cheating anyways.

The blame lies with both the captains. India too failed to make a match of it later on.

No MS you faltered by persisting with ishant sharma and when isahnt sharma was not atall bowling well and was lucky to get a wicket had there been any other bowler at that stage when boucher had just arrived things would have been different once again you have proved that u are lucky and afraid of losing entire series ishant did not bowl well u could have given opportunity to umesh yadav and also pujara shpuld have been given confidence by making him bat at no 3

hehe sanjeev, you are working really hard to find only faults. If he had gone for the kill against the impossible and lost, you would have said we lost and we are bad. Blame is the agenda and reasons you invent.

Shewag did not runs
by Ismail Qureshi on Jan 07, 2011 01:03 PM

Forget everything pitch, balling etc. but if Shwag had runs, there could have been different story. Becuase he is match winner batsman not for India but ranking of the world. Unfortunetly, he failed.

Despite of saying "could have thought of chasing had the target been around 260" he should say could have thought of chasing if sehvag would have been on the crease.

Even with sehwag, 340 in SA is impossible.

Series
by RC on Jan 07, 2011 12:48 PM  | Hide replies

I would say we managed to draw the series that itself is a big achievement. When the team reached RSA, Smith and former players were doubting the credentials of the Indians playing overseas. Many had even written India off. But to end 1-1, I would say, we proved we are competitive enough and no pushovers. Dhoni is right--- if India had bowled first in Centurion-- the outcome would have been different. But then, we can't predict the outcome of the toss. Anyway good work India!! Keep it up!!!

Rightly said. Even without getting a practice match India managed to draw the series. Not a great achievement but it is a good achievement. Better prepare next time. Good luck to Indian team.

Target of 260
by kumar sharad on Jan 07, 2011 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

The target could well have been around 260 if we had the lead of 70-75 runs if SRT and Gambhir had scored at a faster rate. Of course the bowlers could have done better especially Ishant.

You are the typical dimwit

130/6 and they are allowed to score 340 and you whine about faster run rate from tendy and gambhir ?

you know, please keep quiet if you don't know ABC of cricket!

A tribute to India's detractors:
by Vaempuli V on Jan 07, 2011 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

Before the test series:
We don't think India will win any tests. Margin will be atleast 2-0 in SA's favour, they after all are the best team. Not India.

After the first test:
Pat pat pat (patting themselves on their backs). See.. we told you so! India is not the #1 test team in the world. They are useless ... can't win anything outside India. Lanka and Bangladesh are better teams with better away records.

After the second test:
Hic Hiccup silence. umpiring errors. BCCI conspiracy not agreeing to UDRS.

After the third test:
Ah, India couldn't win the series. India's dream of winning in SA has been shattered. Kallis is a better bat than Zaheer, sorry, Sachin .. Steyn better than Zaheer etc. Still India cannot win ... psst more straws please for us to clutch .. please.

Indian Fans: "Guys, thanks for the comic entertainment. We know we are not the most dominant team in cricket. Australia/WI had such dominant teams, however we are still the number 1 team in the world. Go get a life"

:) That is the repeat story. These idiots do it with every series like broken records. I had asked for some of them to stay back on rediff after the series is over, so that we can discuss their grand follies. But escape.. is their way of life.

These people never give up. However, it was a fair result. The South Africans drew the series in India and Indians did likewise in SA. Good performance overall.

Rightly Said!!!

I am Totally agree with you my dear friends, whatever you said...
Dear, some of this people are not Indian cricket lovers..they only know one thing how to criticise INDIAN team..
One more things you can add with this -
Sometimes u also find, If India is a position to win the match..then some of them started the match is fixed by either India or BCCI...They know only want things barking...
