is there no one in australia who can shut these chappel brothers out? throw some chappels at these chappels so as to make them silent.. both r hell bent on ruining aus cricketers morale.. they did that in india..this idiot ian chappel (i dunno if he ever played cricket.. heard that he once did some under arm bowling..lol) once recommended to sachin to hang his boots.. chappels don't know anything about modern day cricket (even in their time both these bros resorted to cheating to win)

Very well said Indira Warrier. Imagine a senior Australian cricketer saying this about someone who has led his country to two World Cup triumphs not to talk abou the innumerable other victories round the world. One bad phase and the guns are out. But this isn't a recent trend. Tne Chappell brothers, ever since their retirements, have tried to be in the limelight by making caustic remarks and shooting off the hip from time to time. Ian is a pastmaster and was the one who set the unhealthy trend of sledging on the field. His comments are best ignored.
Ian is jumping the gun here. Ponting is still the best man for the job. Its a bad situation but they don't have a choice. Australia next test is late in the year, so there is plenty of time for Aus selectors to re-evaluate and put Punter back into captaincy. All depends on how the WC goes.
Steve Waugh's scores in Carlton and United Series 2002
15,62,9,22 not out,30,7,42 (Average 31.16)
Australia failed to reach the finals of that series, and Steve Waugh was not only sacked from ODI captaincy (though he was the captain of Wprld Cup 1999 winning Australian squad), was also dropped from Australian ODI team, and never played ODI again for Australia.
Scores of Ponting in Ashes 2010-11
10, 51 not out,0,9,12,1,10,20 (Average 16.14, about half of that of Steve Waugh, in his last ODI series).
How come he is retained in the Australian test team, that too as a captain ?

Thats because Australia were a strong team then and had good replacements. Now they have nobody. If Ponting gets his form back, he can still get you victories.
he himself out of form, none of their key guys are performing and they dont have good bowlers in team what he can do. if he's given a team like our Ranji and asking him to win ashes.

Satya:
Good analysis... But the trouble is that it's too logical to air such thoughts on Rediff forum... :)
The cheat, arrogant, failure, Bucknor, bumped catch, Sydney 2008, all World Cups becoz of bribed umpires etc. points haven't yet started flowing on the discussion board yet... :) I'm surprised.. :)
He always critisize people as if he is don of cricket, whats wrong if ponting is at dressing room, it shows his concern to the team, these guys with microphone in hand say any thing, use less fellas,

It undermines Clarke's authority, that's what Ian is saying. Aussies feel free to say things about other teams or their own teams. In India, except Bishen Bedi, others are all afraid to speak frankly.
