hehe. Sachin fan having a hearburn. Whether you like it or not, he has grown a little bigger than your superstar right now. And that too without the talent that sachin has. So heart burns are expected so are fake news of god rejecting bigger offers. Get over it and move on. Now there are 2 lobbies working overtime to promote their investments. The one for Sachin that was there for a long time and now for Dhoni. And fools like you digest it without a thought.

Why r these 2 so special
by krishna sumanth on Jan 03, 2011 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

When Viru and Zak also made it, the headlines mentions the names of Sach and Dhoni only. Why this inclination to those 2?

Because of the huge corporate investments on these 2. Why do you think there were Sachin news even when he does not do jack ?. The same is starting to happen with Dhoni. Lets see how Dhoni handles it.

chappel suffering with amnesia
by patrick anthony on Jan 03, 2011 11:24 AM  | Hide replies

chappel is probably suffering with loss of memory, just a year or so ago he severely crtisised tendulkar and declared his retirement, and played that curel joke of asking saching to look into the mirror and ask who the best bats man in the world is and today he includes sachin in the dream team.

He is not biased unlike his younger brother Greg. He appreciates people when they do well and criticize them when they dont perform and thats his job, i think you should understand that. I have hardly found any commentator who discusses technical aspects, finer points, and psychological aspects of the game, and he does them.

Ask anybody who the best commentator is, without hesitation they will say Tony Greg, Sidhu, Henry Blofeld, or Geofrey Boycott. They may be funny and enjoyable but not for someone who wants to learn cricket. I guess Michael Holding, Ian Chappell, Wasim Akram, they are of different category but nobody listens to them.

I think you are refering to the wrong chappel. It was greg chappel who back in 2006-2007 told that to tendy

First of all, its a test team and secondly lokking at Amla's current form its not surprising that he makes it to a World XI ODI team as well.

Here are Amla's stats in ODIs :

in 2010 :
matches :15, runs:1058, avg:75.57, Strike rate : 104.23, 5 100s and 4 50s.

Overall :
matches : 37, runs: 1906, avg: 59.56, strike rate : 93.38

STOP this chappel rubbish
by Vrushal Revdandekar on Jan 03, 2011 11:19 AM

This same chappal oops sorry chappell had suggested that Sachin to Retire when his brother took over the indian team and everybody knows what happened after that to our Team.. thanks to Gary kirsten we are a unbeateable side.. and thanks to Greg that Australia is in a mess. but rediff should not waste space on either of this brothers.. not atleast for anything relating to Indian cricket.
