Why is his religion a big deal?
by Gurjot Singh on Jan 05, 2011 07:18 AM

Is he the first player of Indian (subcontinent as a whole) descent?

the pathetic state of australian cricket is funny very very funny. Even 37 runs means it is great achievement. if it was indian team, he might not even get to play next match.
I hope they continue playing ponting for the sake of breaking sachin record and team australia keeps going down and down.

Cool Dude:

Very well said... Whereas Sehwag has blasted 7 triple centuries on similar pitches and against similar attack in South Africa - just to give the stark comparison you wanted to give... eh? :)

Last year Ricky Ponting took a shot at england team for looking for players outside english origin.
it is ironical that australian selectors had to select Usman Khawaja to replace Ricky Ponting. it is high time Ricky Ponting retries gracefully and withdraws his remark on what england was doing to hire players

Nice to see YOU taking a shot at Ricky Ponting... Isn't it high time you too retired gracefully? ;-)

Not about religion
by Ahmed Indian on Jan 03, 2011 01:26 PM  | Hide replies

Common guys. Its not about religion. It is a great achievement that someone who has moved to Australia from the subcontinent has been given an opportunity to play a Test match for Australia, and that too in the Ashes series. It would be a big morale-booster to Indian-Australian kids.

And yes, Usman scored only 37 runs but the way he was playing was superb. And remember, this is test cricket, not T20.

You guys drag religion into everything, especially if it has got to do with Is1am or Mus1ims. Get a life.

Khawaja

Player from Indian sub contnent has broken the last barrier. Earlier players from Indian continent had donned the CAP from all the Test playing nations right from West Indiest, England, Newzwelant, South Africa. Australia was the last nation, where only whites had the complete hold. Now they have realised the potential of players from this sub continent and more over I am afraid to say that they have exhausted their bench strength. Any how it is a good sign that they have changed for good
