HALF MEASURES
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Mar 01, 2011 08:29 AM  | Hide replies

the fact is Hawkeye is not depended on - only the line is being examined and with third umpire totally bisaed or blind it is bound to happen with half measures .Sack the third umpire from the WC .In Australia the referrals worked beautifully since they used all the technology.

Madanmohan Siddhanthi:

You definitely missed the fact that the Hawkeye algorithms are guaranteed for acceptable margin of error only if the impact is less than 2.5 metres.

But what's curious is that Dhoni - who was heretofore certain that one cannot depend on the hawkeye trajectory and that he'd believe the on-field umpire anyday which is why he was against UDRS.... But suddenly - the moment there was a chance to pin a "whole world is against India" syndrome onto the Indian media and fans, he pointed out to that same trajectory and tried proving that Bowden was wrong!! :)

P.S.: In Australia the referrals worked beautifully since the impact was never outside the 2.5 metre limit... :)

lol. As always in the hate and rush you miss the points. :)) . 2.5 metres in australia or 2.5 metres in india ?. The response of the ball in both scenarios aren't the same. As an umpire he should have take into account low bounce and negligible spin on the ball. It is a tool to aid him to take the right decision. The tool is for guidance and not a written on stone. Dhoni is absolutely right in pointing out the anomalies in the decision when in comparison with another one he was subject to in the past. And he would have been dead wrong if he said the match was drawn because of that. But you went overboard and saw the "whole world against India" angle. Poor you. :))

Dhoni, the suspect
by Jay on Mar 01, 2011 08:15 AM

Why blame UDRS when you do not appeal for genuine snicks during the match? Dhoni probably wanted India to lose. ICC should look into match-fixing angle and see Dhoni's bank transactions etc, who he contacted in the last few days etc.

Why the Hullaboo? This match was Fixed!!!
by Hari on Feb 28, 2011 08:26 PM  | Hide replies

I do not understand why such a hue and cry is being raised? Guys this match was "Fixed". Please explain the reason for Indian not hearing Strauss's edge - TWICE, and the way Collingwood getting out. And the icing on the cake was the 3rd umpire's decision for Bell. This match was FIXED and so is the fact that India is WINNING this world cup! All FIXED!

I do not think INDIA winning this WC!

The reason is: Today's Cricket matches are fixed and the outcome is decided by the Bookies! If the Bookie is a person who is capable to buy all the ICC Panel and BCCI - think about the outcome!!

Pawar is sitting on top in strong collaboration with Bookie Dawood!

A huge amount - phenomenally large amount has been betted on India and the market money is sitting with Dawood! If India wins, all these money x 2 will go from his pocket! Instead of looking 1000 cr he can forgo 100 cr to Pawar and 100 cr to Dhoni - and he can make sure India is defeated in the Final!!

If India is defeated, Pawar, Dawood and Dhoni are the winners! We, the general public, are the loosers!! This is the possibility before us!! I will not be surprised if Pak enter the Final and clash against India and go to Pak with WCup praising Dawood!

Hari:

If it was fixed, then I must admire the Perfectioninst players who participated in your gig; and I also must admire your precision in ensuring Everything worked exactly as it should have just like clockwork..

The EXACT edges, the EXACT moments to get out, the EXACT ways in which you instructed bowlers to bowl weak balls, but more importantly the EXACT precision with which even Shahzad (a tailender) hit that Six you asked him to... The placement was immaculate (how else could you ensure that EXACTLY one run would be scored on the very last ball of the 100 overs?)

I salute you, and only hope that our administrators in Government learn how to run things efficiently and very effectively... Great job!! :)
And proud to have watched this display of perfection at Bengaluru on Sunday!! :)

DHONi is helping Booking and Book profit for him self!!
by k p on Feb 28, 2011 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

Everything is wrong & Everybody is wrong EXCEPT Dhoni and his politics!

He is promoting him self up the order and helping Yuvi to stay in the team by promoting also up the order while denying chances to Kohli and Pathan!!

He is not taking any wise decision in Fielding or Batting when batsmen make a decent total!

In Dhaka, when he found Sree is not able to reduce the RPO, he cleverly wanted to continue so that he could make it worse by giving away a few more runs so that Dhoni could fix Sree and keep Sree away from the team! He succeeded! With this kind of tactics, he can enter politics and become a CM or PM in no time!!

In SA when India had enough time and good batting line up in the pavillion waiting for their turn, he DID NOT WANT THEM TO register a win! He advised them to draw the test! He was helping SA and the Bookies!

Samething now again! When England could no way make a matching total, he did everything to make that possible! Now, he says I AM HAPPY WITH A TIE!

We can see he is not helping the team to accomplish greater things! He is going low! Instead of santching a victory, he is going for a DRAW or a TIE!! Definitely, something is behind these decisions! He is helping some one through back door! He must be a good agent of the Bookies who sit in the Pavillion and sign their Checks in the name of Dhoni with each wrong decision taken by Dhoni!!

What Indian bowlers lack
by MeetFireWithFire on Feb 28, 2011 07:18 PM

What India needs at the moment is a good quality fast bowler who hits the deck hard at the consistent line with a good length. Good Swing bowling could come good only in England and South Africa. If you have good seamers, you could do well in New Zealand and Australia. In sub-continental conditions you need to hit the deck hard to get good bounce. INDIA never in history of 30 years of ODI had such kind of bowlers. Even if some bowlers of INDIA had done well in patches, for them to be considered intimidating, they should have their bowling average to be less than 25.

There is no point in slamming UDRS
by MeetFireWithFire on Feb 28, 2011 06:40 PM

The real culprit is bowling. No one can hide it...

How about SriLanka and Pakistan able to produce quality fast bowlers?

Many people claim Australia have best facilities to produce good fast bowlers. Those are the same people who also say Indian Board is the richest in the world.

If Pakistan and SriLankan Boards provides facilities to create Malinga, Umar Gul, Akthar, Anglo Mathews, India is not able to produce even one.

India are able to produce tons of Virat Kholis, but not a single Malinga or a Lee. The answer for this lies with in us. Yes it is the INDIAN youngsters who prefer only batting as career option. It is time now for BCCI to force our youngsters to take up fast bowling.

The IPL big bucks should go to fast bowlers and then good spinners and then the batsmen. That is how it should be…

Lets take the proper lesson from this match
by Jason Bourne on Feb 28, 2011 06:32 PM  | Hide replies

Problems:
1. Fielding - Many singles allowed within 30 yard circle. This made Englands chase very easy. Close fielders need to rush in to stop those singles. That creates additional pressure
2. Bowling - This infact is not as bad as people make it to be. We got Strauss out twice, just did not appeal. If you put more pressure with fielding, bowling stats should improve. Just reduce balls straying on to legs a little more.
3. Field Placement, Attacking and General Captaincy - This needs to improve. Again, Strauss had to ask for Dhoni to attack (by taking power play). Dhoni could have done this earlier, since we have huge total, put more people close and make the batsmen earn the runs.
4. Fitness - Very very bad. Jaheer could barely breath for 5th and 6th ball of each over towards the end. How can a 30 year old international fast bowler, who hopefully bowling atleast 15 overs a day during training, and exercising a little, have that belly? Harbhajan's dropped catch is pathetic.

Positives:
1. Batting is looking even better, with Yuvi striking a 50
2. Sachin's stroke play is amazing.
3. The problems with fielding are very easily fixable. Hopefully the coach will push them towards it.

Go Team India!

bookies made the killing yesterday because they had pocketed whole money as it is highly unlikely anyone would have predicted tie. the way england fumble after being in such a strong position really raises the doubt.
