Lets take the proper lesson from this match
by Jason Bourne on Feb 28, 2011 06:32 PM  | Hide replies

Problems:
1. Fielding - Many singles allowed within 30 yard circle. This made Englands chase very easy. Close fielders need to rush in to stop those singles. That creates additional pressure
2. Bowling - This infact is not as bad as people make it to be. We got Strauss out twice, just did not appeal. If you put more pressure with fielding, bowling stats should improve. Just reduce balls straying on to legs a little more.
3. Field Placement, Attacking and General Captaincy - This needs to improve. Again, Strauss had to ask for Dhoni to attack (by taking power play). Dhoni could have done this earlier, since we have huge total, put more people close and make the batsmen earn the runs.
4. Fitness - Very very bad. Jaheer could barely breath for 5th and 6th ball of each over towards the end. How can a 30 year old international fast bowler, who hopefully bowling atleast 15 overs a day during training, and exercising a little, have that belly? Harbhajan's dropped catch is pathetic.

Positives:
1. Batting is looking even better, with Yuvi striking a 50
2. Sachin's stroke play is amazing.
3. The problems with fielding are very easily fixable. Hopefully the coach will push them towards it.

Go Team India!

bookies made the killing yesterday because they had pocketed whole money as it is highly unlikely anyone would have predicted tie. the way england fumble after being in such a strong position really raises the doubt.

whatever that decision was absurd. even bell was convinced that he is out and whole stadium knew that. ball is hitting the middle of stump. what distance have to do with it. and twice our team not appealed for caught behind when there is sound. does udrs allows third umpire to listen to stump microphone. if not then use technology fully when use fifty percent and leave still to field umpires to make decision.

ANIL SINGH:

;-) Twice OUR team did not appeal, and you will naturally say third umpire and Strauss and the English (and everyone who is not Indian) are Cheaters.... just like in 2008... :)

When indian batsmen tried for 2nd run, got runout. Prior to that the score was 338. Can any one clarify why no run was awarded for the 5th ball of 49 th over

yes its a cricket, any body can win, but why indian bowler are not using the slow delivery,so many matches bowlers are not using the slow yorker, slow bownser, and why they are not taking the Ashwin, Ashwin is very good spin bowler, Please try to use good line and lenght according to batsman.

Change of batting order
by caruthedath gopalakrishnan on Feb 28, 2011 05:11 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni should not have changed the batting order. Virat should have come before him. He would have not only steadied the innings but also scored at a faster rate. When he was sent much later there was hardly any time for him to act.

I know I am not going to get supporters rather many sringent critics but I cann't help myself saying that Dhoni is not a good captain instead a very very lucky captain.
Three mistakes he did were i]not sending Yusuf Pathan & Virat Kohli earlier ii]Giving so many singles by wrong field placings iii]Not including Sreeshant in place of Chawala.
Yuvraj is a fantastic batsman---no doubt about this but if he can not play spin as pace attacks then half of the balls bowled to him goes in vain.Pathan should have been given a free opportunity. If not then Virat should have been sent in place of Yuvraj & Pathan in place of Dhoni.
In the last 20-20 World Cup too Dhoni made the same mistake by not sending Pathan earlier and when sent him he scored 53 runs in just 19 deliveries and lost the match by 3 runs only.
Similarly Dhoni's apathy against R.Aswin is costin us too much.
