Ind-Eng match
by Baskar Subramanian on Feb 28, 2011 08:30 PM

After watching the match we can conclude India does not deserve to be champion. Lets be fair. One and only strength for us is batting. That too if momentum is set in the rest develop complecency. No bowling (even a club will have better attack) No fielding (excepting one or two players).. only on the strength of batting can we win the cup.

Why the Hullaboo? This match was Fixed!!!
by Hari on Feb 28, 2011 08:23 PM

I do not understand why such a hue and cry is being raised? Guys this match was "Fixed". Please explain the reason for Indian not hearing Strauss's edge - TWICE, and the way Collingwood getting out. And the icing on the cake was the 3rd umpire's decision for Bell. This match was FIXED and so is the fact that India is WINNING this world cup! All FIXED!

Judge waht Dhoni is doing! He can be a PM in no time!!
by k p on Feb 28, 2011 08:08 PM  | Hide replies

I find the following:
1. Dhoni is promoting him self up the order and Yuvi up the order when everything is ok and comfortable.
2. Dhoni is denying chances for Pathan and Kohli. He is infact is targeting Pathan!!
3. Dhoni killed Sree just because of one game. That was the one game he cost so much of runs.
4. Dhoni was fighting for including Nehra in WC Team! Now, where is Nehra?? He is in a hospital bed! He barely completed 7 overs! What was need to include him in the team - after a couple of over of bowling he was good for nothing - no good fielding, no good batting! Everybody knew it even before his inclusion! Why Dhoni was adamant in including Nehra in the team - why did not he fight for Pragyan Oja??
5. Dhoni is also making comments in the media - sometimes utter nonsense! Why cannot he focus on his own improvements! He is more focussed on blaming his own team mates!! Now, he is attacking the Fielders and Bowlers!! What about his own performance!!

I am not a big Dhoni fan, I think he made bad decisions with field placements etc yesterday, but I disagree with you on other topics.

1. Yes, but he changes batting order based on match position, and that should be how it is done

2. Does not make sense. Kohli played well under Dhoni and Pathan also did well. Would like to see Pathan come a little earlier, but look at the order. He is doing the best he can with it

3. Sree killed himself. How can we blame Dhoni for it.

4. Ojha? Why a third spinner

5. He should attack fielders and bowlers. They sucked yesterday. He should also blame himself, when he does not do well. Which did not happen yesterday.

I think you are being very harsh on Dhoni.

Real Culprit
by MeetFireWithFire on Feb 28, 2011 07:47 PM

The real culprit is bowling. No one can hide it...

How about SriLanka and Pakistan able to produce quality fast bowlers?

Many people claim Australia have best facilities to produce good fast bowlers. Those are the same people who also say Indian Board is the richest in the world.

If Pakistan and SriLankan Boards provides facilities to create Malinga, Umar Gul, Akthar, Anglo Mathews, India is not able to produce even one.

India are able to produce tons of Virat Kholis, but not a single Malinga or a Lee. The answer for this lies with in us. Yes it is the INDIAN youngsters who prefer only batting as career option. It is time now for BCCI to force our youngsters to take up fast bowling.

What India needs at the moment is a good quality fast bowler who hits the deck hard at the consistent line with a good length. Good Swing bowling could come good only in England and South Africa. If you have good seamers, you could do well in New Zealand and Australia. In sub-continental conditions you need to hit the deck hard to get good bounce. INDIA never in history of 30 years of ODI had such kind of bowlers. Even if some bowlers of INDIA had done well in patches, for them to be considered intimidating, they should have their bowling average to be less than 25.

Let' read this match properly
by Jason Bourne on Feb 28, 2011 06:30 PM  | Hide replies

Problems:
1. Fielding - Many singles allowed within 30 yard circle. This made Englands chase very easy. Close fielders need to rush in to stop those singles. That creates additional pressure
2. Bowling - This infact is not as bad as people make it to be. We got Strauss out twice, just did not appeal. If you put more pressure with fielding, bowling stats should improve. Just reduce balls straying on to legs a little more.
3. Field Placement, Attacking and General Captaincy - This needs to improve. Again, Strauss had to ask for Dhoni to attack (by taking power play). Dhoni could have done this earlier, since we have huge total, put more people close and make the batsmen earn the runs.
4. Fitness - Very very bad. Jaheer could barely breath for 5th and 6th ball of each over towards the end. How can a 30 year old international fast bowler, who hopefully bowling atleast 15 overs a day during training, and exercising a little, have that belly? Harbhajan's dropped catch is pathetic.

Positives:
1. Batting is looking even better, with Yuvi striking a 50
2. Sachin's stroke play is amazing.
3. The problems with fielding are very easily fixable. Hopefully the coach will push them towards it.

Go Team India!

Because of that useless Yuvraj Singh & Dhoni who only scored run a ball between the 40th & 50th overs on that placid track was the reason behind India's tied game. Had Kolhi or Pathan had been promoted ahed of these useless craps, India would have scored atleast another 30 runs.

The tie is mainly due to England's excellent comeback not becos of Dhoni's wrong captaincy.

It is because of wrong Captaincy!!
Dhoni is promoting himself up the order when everything is ok and comfortable and prevent Pathan up the order! He is eager to promote Yuvi up the order to keep him in the team for ever even if he is unfit!

I NEVER SAW Dhoni appreciating Zak after his good bowling and NEVER saw appreciating good fielding! He is very eager to instill PESSIMISM in his team by running to media and saying something there!

You are supporting him just because he is Captain of IPL Chennai!!

Wrong calculations

Had India batted full overs, that is the last ball could have made a difference.
Had the Yuvraj onwards wickets not fallen in a casual manner ?
Perhaps the crossing 300 mark brought complacency in the Indian camp

Unless the bowling dept is not strengthened a 350 will not be enough. If bangla can hit 280 odd during chase then what about SA or WI. In reality India dont deserve a top place. Indian bowlers dont put atleast 25 odd runs, & even they struggle in bowling. Wen compared to other teams or the last match(ENG) all the new comer bowlers can bang a boundry..!!

Worst bowling department
by arun s on Feb 28, 2011 04:55 PM  | Hide replies

India need to take this as defeat, need to think seriously abt there bowling, if this type of careless in fielding & bowling continues, India will be out of worldcup. Dhoni or Dhobi (correct) should be dealt seriously because of non-seriousness attitude abt tournament, team is jst playing to make money for themselves and not for country. U chuckers play of country not for money.

Arun, I agree. I suspected the same. US Basket Ball team is ranked 3rd or 4th when it played against international teams. But on NBA, the players give their best because of the big money. You draw the same comparison between ICC world cup and IPL matches.
