I do not understand why such a hue and cry is being raised? Guys this match was "Fixed". Please explain the reason for Indian not hearing Strauss's edge - TWICE, and the way Collingwood getting out. And the icing on the cake was the 3rd umpire's decision for Bell. This match was FIXED and so is the fact that India is WINNING this world cup! All FIXED!

ok Man say whatever u want, the thing is that our bowlers did not perform to their 10 percent potential..every bowler except chawla is injured..selectors took the risk and are paying heavy price...had india lost match then there would have been some sense in yr comment..

Who's fixing the match? The ICC? And who's paying the ICC, and Dhoni and Strauss? The BCCI? The Ministry of Finance?
Guys we all are missing our great allrounder the country has ever produced.........RAVINDRA JADEJA.....no offence please cause he is the best after ajit agarkar. what say?
Re: come on guys

How dare u adress Sir Ravindra Jadeja without his honary title...Sir RJ is getting some well deserved rest to gear up for the IPL
No one's talking about dhoni's decisions. around 3rd over there was a clear edge from strauss which neither the bowler or wicketkeeper appealed for. Even we sitting infront of the tele could hear that. The commentators were saying as well. Second around 15th over there was an lbw appeal for bell which was not reviewed. That was clear out. third, in the 48th over our ''legend bowler''munaf decided not to run out swann. He thought the match is already in pocket. Fourth, Dhoni's stupid fielding placements allowing a boundary every over and tons of singles. And last his bowling changes which should have made zaheer bowl his 10th over as 49th or 50th. Guys this dhoni is nothing but a media-hyped player. Thanks once again to sachin for a timely century or else we would have been bundled out on 250/260. I really pity him. A legend playing with a bunch of one-match-wonders.

this incident clearly shows who insecure this overrated Dhobi is; he can not take decision when he is forced to make decision of his own
Problems: 1. Fielding - Many singles allowed within 30 yard circle. This made Englands chase very easy. Close fielders need to rush in to stop those singles. That creates additional pressure 2. Bowling - This infact is not as bad as people make it to be. We got Strauss out twice, just did not appeal. If you put more pressure with fielding, bowling stats should improve. Just reduce balls straying on to legs a little more. 3. Field Placement, Attacking and General Captaincy - This needs to improve. Again, Strauss had to ask for Dhoni to attack (by taking power play). Dhoni could have done this earlier, since we have huge total, put more people close and make the batsmen earn the runs. 4. Fitness - Very very bad. Jaheer could barely breath for 5th and 6th ball of each over towards the end. How can a 30 year old international fast bowler, who hopefully bowling atleast 15 overs a day during training, and exercising a little, have that belly? Harbhajan's dropped catch is pathetic.
Positives: 1. Batting is looking even better, with Yuvi striking a 50 2. Sachin's stroke play is amazing. 3. The problems with fielding are very easily fixable. Hopefully the coach will push them towards it.

Completely agreed. But even in your remarks there are many many negatives , barely any positives.

Yeah, that is true. But I am hoping the coaches will just push the guys to improve fitness and fielding over next 2 weeks. It is hard to improve batting or bowling, but strategy, fitness and fielding can be changed within these 2 weeks.
So we can still peak for the final 3 matches that matter.

if the ball is shown to be hittng the stumps it is OUT,simple as that.only a bunch of stupid rules, like the d/l system
Re: Re: The Bell decision.
by French Cuisine on Feb 28, 2011 06:48 PM
Even many of the legside wides, which almost brush the pads, I find ridiculous since anyone could easily hit them. But rules are rules and they are followed by everyone even if they disagree. If 2.5m is a rule, it is a rule - and umpires have to follow it.
Re: Re: Re: The Bell decision.
by officer shibu on Feb 28, 2011 06:53 PM
rules shud be followed ok,but such rules shud be done away with..i mean, even if bell was 2.5 meters outside, the ball wud have hit the stumps!!so does 2.5 or 3.5 matter?

he may also have the record for the highest number of centuries on monday?

hopefully highest no. of 100s on Saturday too...!!!
-Strauss goes to the dressing room during interval and says "this is a flat pitch and we can do it". Comes down and does exactly what he says and almost finishes an impossible run chase. -Afridi comes here with a decimated, with half of the bowling gone nobody gives them a darn chance and yet he encourages, dominates , asks the team to perform and works with them. He leads from front in a solid display of batting and bowling (not fielding) against SriLanka and defeats them in their backyard. Now Pak is suddenly a force to reckon with -Dhoni comes back from SA tour where he never performed and gave excuses after excuses. He signs new ad contracts with some companies including potato chips and ceiling fans, and goes around cheerleading for his team. After a great performance by Kohli he demotes Kohli and promotes himself in a batting to come in after most of the best work was already done. Swings around the bat, emerges with a rusty bowling attack of only spinners and completely runs out of all ideas to save the game. THe Indian team looks beaten , tired and crestfallen by half of the innings with their bowling weaknesses completely exposed. Dhoni rides his luck to tie the game, never speaks of something like "we will come back, we will do better" etc. What he says is "we would win if we were a better fielding side" and "if you have to score 350 everytime to get a result the tournament w

Make sachin the captain and then see how miserably India will start losing :-)

People start bashing tendulkar for everything..well, atleast yesterday they must have realized how much his century was worth. Poor tendulkar, a legend playing with a bunch of media-hyped players and nothing else. Do feel pity for him. Anyway, couldnt agree more with you.
Re: Re: A difference between captains

I think many people bash Sachin in this forum just to make fun. But yesterday all his good work was undone, anyway it was a masterclass of controlled aggression that none of the others are capable of. Strauss was fantastic as well.
Re: Re: Re: A difference between captains
by anand zawar on Feb 28, 2011 06:45 PM
Strauss was already out in the third over. Our great captain and bowler dint even appeal. How generous...He was out once again in the middle overs. Same, caught behind, again no appeal. By the way, did you listen to what Atherton said to strauss at the awards? he said....''Finally can you now say that if there is sachin, England's strauss has arrived as well. I thought that was overblown. lolzz. He got three lives, mediocre bowling and fielding and a dropped catch. Even the great Ravindra Jadeja would have scored a century. cheers.
Re: A difference between captains
by Jason Bourne on Feb 28, 2011 06:40 PM
French, Yes-Dhoni is a little concerned that Strauss's powerplay showed how more aggression from Dhoni would help India. Hopefully, he got that message.
He is also right that, if we are a better fielding side, we would have won. But he should have rallied the team to show more energy. They looked so beaten and their fitness level looked very bad. How can athletes of this level be so lethargic in movement?
I hope someone is talking to them about it and making them run 3-5 miles a day this whole 2 weeks until south africa match. Just wakeup and run 3 miles before training. It is not that hard.
Re: Re: A difference between captains
by French Cuisine on Feb 28, 2011 06:43 PM
I thought that should already be a norm for a bunch of super-rich professionals.
Re: Re: Re: A difference between captains
by Jason Bourne on Feb 28, 2011 06:52 PM
That is the problem. I think these guys are too rich for fitness coach to just ask them to show-up on the field at 6am and run.
Second thing is, these guys must be just eating biriyanis, makhanis and vada pavs. Those bellies are showing that nutrition is not being taken as seriously. I hope someone puts them on proper diet, with protein shakes and 5 small balanced meals every day with strength and endurance training.
