There is plenty of cricket yet -- no need to panic --
by Nikhil Shah on Mar 01, 2011 03:07 AM

The 280 runs against BLD and the 338 against England has been a caused of major concern. The Indian think-tank still has not found the right combination yet, but 4 bowlers or five, the problem is Ashish Nehra's injury and not the Fifth bowler or Chawla. This may become an issue in the later stages but they still have to play against the minows and we should not be too concerned about the options with Sreesanth, Nehra and Chawla. I would say wait till Nehra is 100% ready and in the meanwhile before the semi and quarters let us juggle with Chawla and Sreesanth. Yusuf is something that India will get if our batting is struggling in a chase and when the top-order cannot fire. He can turn the match around from a seemingly hopeless situation but a fifth bowler cannot do what Yusuf can do. The combination of Zaheer, Nehra and Munaf is the best combination since Srinath, Zaheer and Nehra since the 93 WC. Munaf has been a revelation and got a lot of help in SA, but the three combined can put a serious dent early when India's is defending. Chawla is still young and maybe against the minnows for the next few games Sreesanth can be a better option before Nehra can fully recover. The attack is too spin centric with Chawla, Harby and the part-timers. We play SA until March 12 and enough time for Nehra to recover, until then Sreesanth is a good option against the minnows with Yusuf still in the eleven and going with 3 specialist seamers is a good option.

fast bowlers
by john kannattu on Feb 28, 2011 06:06 PM

In reality, the Establishment has not encouraged fast bowlers especially during the last 4-5 years. Not a single new talent in fast bowling department has come up. We are persisting with nehra and munaf patel, not fit to play international games. This is the sad state of affairs. Only Zaheer and Srisanth are fit, but sreesanth is erratic. This is a major worry for our future plans. We need to encourage fast bowlers, because they only bring the real toughness in the game.

3 rd Bowler required, Improve Balling Team India
by KO Cherian on Feb 28, 2011 01:46 PM  | Hide replies

Now the bowling weakness of the Indian team is exposed…

Indian team has to reduce one batsman (like S. Riana) and include one bowler (Aswin Karthik- 3rd Spinner)
Sreeshanth shall be tried once again to prove.

However the India balling has to be improved otherwise from Quarter-Finals it will be Know out games and India will not see the semi-finals

Lazy fielding and poor bowling
by Sasikumar on Feb 28, 2011 01:45 PM  | Hide replies

If india has to win the cup, team should be balance in batting, bowling and fielding. Unfortunately they bowled with a feeling like we won the match added very lazy fielding also. Actually England deserve match bcz in all the 50 overs indian could'nt give any tension to england.

Three Fast bowlers must!!!
by Indian on Feb 28, 2011 04:48 AM  | Hide replies

Imgaine if one of the ever fragile Indian Fast bowlers goes down, who wil bowl during power play and in death overs?

Also, Seamers tend to better job then spnners on flat wickets...

i feel indian bowlers are more rusty. They would have taken couple of wikets in first 8 overs and then at regular intervals and our feilding is very very week. Every one in Indian team crossing almost 30 age mark thay do not weant dive and the people who are bowling are bowling for name sake thats it ... they are lazy on the feild.

Prabhanjan:

Your prediction about England also "almost" came true... :)

They reached 280 in 43 overs... the only problem is that they forgot about your prediction of getting all out... ;-)
