B'DESH & WI ONLY SHADE BETTER THAN IRELAND OR NETHER
by damodaran mohan on Feb 26, 2011 03:28 PM

Bangladesh is not able to perform under pressure. In fact against India played better. It is difficult to chose between Bangladesh and WI for the 4th place.Even WI is suffering from poor execution although they have much better batting fire power. Both the teams seem to lack clear cut plans at crucial stages of the match and are losing their way due to some mindless and arbitrary play.It is really sad to see WI totally lack the mettle and the Champion aura of the seventies. Both the teams are hopeless.

ICC should remove the Test Status of Bangladesh
by sicher on Feb 26, 2011 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

Even after enjoying 10 years of Test Playing experience, B'Desh is unable to produce a single world class batsman or bowler which is really pathetic for a country where Cricket is the most popular sport and 150 million population. They have not won a single test series against any country other than Zimbabwe.

India had played just 7 tests from 1932 to 1942. I guess Bangladesh plays 10 tests every year.

I thought Ireland had a Chance But
by Senthil on Feb 26, 2011 02:54 AM  | Hide replies

I m Disappointed. Poter and ED Joyce failed in a very important Situation. O'Brien Brothers batted well but not Supported well.

Ireland going to be Test Country Soon and they have a potent Bowling attack but not the Class batting. If they develop good player also England Attracted them, E Morgan is the Biggest loss for Ireland

Appeal of cricket
by French Cuisine on Feb 26, 2011 12:13 AM

This will sound pessimistic - but I can see only 6 teams to look for in this WC. Looking at the world cup performances, some of the giants of the game have taken tremendous steps backward. West Indies have fallen from a dominant position to practical oblivion where even Bangladesh can beat them, and NewZealand is also a largely dying entity. These two teams can be safely categorized along with the other minnows and are certified whopping boys for the bigger teams. It is clear that the nextGen cricketers in this country are not there most likely due to lack of enthusiasm for the game. Will these 2 countries ever play like past? Some smaller teams like Netherlands and Ireland are trying to come up, but only 6 countries can be said to be genuine cricketing nations - 3 Asians, England, Aus and SA. So outside the subcontinent what happens to cricket? Cricket does not appeal to people outside this part of the world. Maybe even Aus will play like today's NZ after 20 years if enough new talents don't emerge and India will be the only cricket team left to watch.
