Hey dude don't panic be seated, such things happen in this small world.....TV replacement is very easy, anyways you are paying the TV amount right.....i must say you have made a big news and TV channels are very happy when they get any hot controversy from celebrities.
Am sure if this was done by anyone else ( not Australian ) he would also have faced a ban of some matches. There is a clear double standard applied. Its a shame that a captain can behave this way.

There are sufficient cases of different levels of punishment for similar offences. Any way a captain needs to behave properly since he not only leads his team but also represents his country.

AC:
Pray tell me how many times were Asians "punished" for throwing bats on grounds, and / or flinging their kit in the dressing room? But if you think Ponting should be given a life ban and jailed for 14 years as he happens to be the captain; especially becoz he did not apologise but secured the services of one of his team mates to swear that he merely said "Maa,ki" to the TV, you must be right... :)
I dont know why Ricky Ponting agreed to pay the damage. Its all happened because of the way TV was placed in the dressing room. Does any one keep a TV where frustrated players throw their bat, ball and what not once they return from the field? Even if the TV has been placed such a way, Gujarath Cricket Association should have protected it with some kind of metallic mesh or grill. I guess just because it is some white involved here, ICC has decided on such a harsh punishment. Instead they should have warned Gujarath cricket association that no matches will be played there till they have proper protection for all the equipments in the dressing room including TV, wash basin, commod and what not!!

They are playing internationally and they have to keep their emotions down and not show the way Pointing showed. It is wrong by any cause.
IMO attitude should not be counted when a player's greatness is seen.i mean all cannot have same behaviour everywhere.it differs from person to person.i agree punter is little arrogant and a misbehaved person but if i ignore these things he is definitely the second greatest batsman and the best captain the world has ever produced, according to me. people can like,or hate him but he cannot be ignored
