Balasubramamiam:

Correct. Since we never saw any cricketer throw their bat, gloves, helmet or any part of their kit either on the ground or in the dressing room, Ponting should get a life ban, plus he should be fined for the cost of the stadium and upgrading the whole suburb, AND he should be jailed for defeating Zimbabwe.
I think anything less than this very mild punishment will clearly prove that ICC is racist. ;-)

forgiven ... he is a frustrated man with runs not coming from his bat... even chappal brothers might not able to keep him in the team any longer... looks like wc failure will be end of this cheat career anyway... so no need to ban him for a match or two now... let him enjoy his last few days of cheating/lying and shwoing tantrums on the field peacefully...

I know you are a Sachin fan, as I am too. But I feel this way of taking out frustration labeling allegations right left and centre is uncalled for.
The WC has barely started and predictions galore?
And where did you get that "cheat career" from?
One ugly Sydney 2008?

it is not one ugly sydney 2008... ponting is known to raise his finger even before the umpire decison... and not against india... in recent years he tries to interfere with umpires no matter who the opposition is...
and as for wc just being started... well in the end aussies might win and ponting may score runs... but he definetely is lacking form at present for a long time and thats is making him more and more frustrated every day...

greatest cricketer of all time when it comes to cheating / lying and throwing tantrums... he outshines even chappal brothers... with his bad form now he will become more and more frustrated and record hungry aussies will contine to carry him in the team in the faint hope that he might break sachin's record in 10-15 years...

Correct Step Taken...
by Avishek Banerjee on Feb 23, 2011 03:28 PM  | Hide replies

Its the correct step taken by GCA and then by BCCI. Ricky Ponting above all is just a cricketer. If he is found indecent, should be penalized. Had it been Indian criketer in Australia, they would have done the same thing if not more. So, its the correct step. Ricky moreover is the captain, now carrying malintention of Australia. Though we know how australians are and they can do and what not. Aren't we? They are born with it. So can't help. Ricky should be fined 100% of his match fee as he is the captain who is doing this sort of thing carrying wrong msg... or one match ban...

100% correct. We already know what Aussies can do through our excellent imagination. No need for evidence, smash or no smash or ICC. Direct life ban. ;-)

Correct psuedo. Aussies are very kind people. The world saw it in Dr Mohammed Haneef case, amongst the various attacks on Indian students :)

:-). And did the world see OUR 0% crime rate at the same time?? ;-)

BTW the discussion was not on politics, local crime rates, strict anti-terrorism. But this extreme labeling of "All Aussies..", "Indians always.." etc. denotes excellent logical abilities. ;-)

Then tell me one good reason why an asian player get punished almost 100% of the time where as white people just get reprimanded with false promises of punishment?

Anyways, the point I am making is Ricky Ponting is a captain of Australia which has given sporting legends. Under his captainship, Australia has won 2 world cups, he has scored over 10k runs in both formats of the game. He is undoubtedly a legend in this game, and now during the twilight of his career this should not have happened.

And I agree with that sentiment 100%. See my reply to KK on the subject.
The punishment should be commiserate with the deed. Which is what ICC mostly evaluates.
Our fans put their own imaginations and judgements first a la a "smashed" TV etc. and then complain about racism when events unfold differently.

Dear Ricky

Please remember that you are an Ambassador of a country and also a captain.

Such attitudes determine the altitudes of a person.
