So, India begins the WC campaign with a Bang.Sachin was short but fluent.Sehwag lasted longest. Gambhir on the other hand was also sizzling though brief. And V/Kohli was at his consistent best with a quickfire century. All in all as far as batting is concerned the Top Four have made their statement to the rest of the teams for sure .On this confident note there is no reason why the remaining match winners will also not come to party in the next round of matches. Well begun is half the job done. Bowling ? Sree had an off day , that is ok because that can happen in cricket but the rest bowled well. Main learning is that although Bhajji bowled well but has to be ably supported from the other end by another regular spinner to be effective enough for restricting the opposition to within 250 runs on this slow but good batting tracks. Also, If two spinners are played then besides Zak, Munaf may have to be played ahead of others. Bangla ? They can upset Top teams provided Captain SH is more positive-- fielding first was a big let down .The captain must believe in the team and be more positive overall in other decisions also.
he is still the best batsman in indian squad, he was seeming much better than sehwag in last ODI WC encounter. he could have gone 100 landmark easily, but unfortunate.

We need to let someone earn his position in a team for every match , if we need to win this world cup (Applies to everyone) India has not won any world cup since Sachin started playing for India. It is just an observation, so dont get too personal here, I care a heck if sachin plays or not, its for Sachin to prove his value. No amount of Lobbying for him will substitute for a class act that extirpates the opposition. Sachin stands out in mediocracy for sure, but yet to see him win matches (in recent times)against stalwarts. As long as we keep players based solely on historical performances or averages, we can only count on hope (of better performance)to win matches. but to believe we can win, we need players with good current performances. I pick belief over hope.

Since Dravid, Ganguli, Kumble, laxman playing WC India never won world cup.It does not mean that they are bad players.

"India" needs to improve and come up to about 30% of Sachin's standards. That will dramatically improve our chances of lifting the WC. With promising players like Kohli and Chawla on the horizon, the unpredictable performances of Sehwag and Harbhajan can hopefully be overcome and balanced out... :)

Agree, if we had 2 more players who set standards like Sachin. How about carrying unwanted baggage like "yuvraj and Dhoni" ?
But wait, We dont want to be a country who fields 11 batsmen do we? We need some quality bowlers, or train current bowlers to world class standards. Quality bowling won more finals than quality batting ( can someone current me here, its just a hypothesis)

dude, in his last 3 ODI he scored a 200. and again to your point abt sachin plays well or not, he is playing better than yuvraj,raina and dhoni at the moment.
