There is plenty of cricket left -- no need to panic --
by Nikhil Shah on Feb 28, 2011 06:48 AM

The 280 runs against BLD and the 338 against England has been a caused of major concern. The Indian think-tank still has not found the right combination yet, but 4 bowlers or five, the problem is Ashish Nehra's injury and not the Fifth bowler or Chawla.

This may become an issue in the later stages but they still have to play against the minows and we should not be too concerned about the options with Sreesanth, Nehra and Chawla.

I would say wait till Nehra is 100% ready and in the meanwhile before the semi and quarters let us juggle with Chawla and Sreesanth.

Yusuf is something that India will get if our batting is struggling in a chase and when the top-order cannot fire. He can turn the match around from a seemingly hopeless situation but a fifth bowler cannot do what Yusuf can do.

The combination of Zaheer, Nehra and Munaf is the best combination since Srinath, Zaheer and Nehra since the 93 WC. Munaf has been a revelation and got a lot of help in SA, but the three combined can put a serious dent early when India's is defending.

Chawla is still young and maybe against the minnows for the next few games Sreesanth can be a better option before Nehra can fully recover.

The attack is too spin centric with Chawla, Harby and the part-timers.

We play SA until March 12 and enough time for Nehra to recover, until then Sreesanth is a good option against the minnows with Yusuf still in the eleven and going with 3 specialist seamers is a good option.

Srikanth-Dhoni & Sonia-Manmohan
by mohd uddin on Feb 16, 2011 12:16 PM

Dhoni not commenting himself, he is following the instructions of Srikanth. Dhoni just repeating Srikanth's words infront of media. It's same like Manmohan speach written by Sonia.

Well I couldn't make much sense of Dhoni's staements..what was the need..what does he want to say..looked like some words were slip of tongue...a loud-mouthed fellow..not a calculated talk..it was not required...appears to be a foolish statement ahead of world..what does he mean by mindset before playing warm up match..as if it requires lots of efforts

or is he trying to give an excuse..I agree with Imran.." it is a sign of weakness"

This is what one expects

when
(1) a person start thinking he is smarter than he actually is. Characteristic of a f-o-o-l.
(2) a person starts believing in all hype created around him ..again a characteristic of a f-0-0-l.

He was hype as captain cool but in fact he is captain f-o-o-l. No doubt about it anymore.

with Lallu Prasad, Dhoni leads from the rear, and so his words too come out of his rear end. Too selfish to admit he is not good enough to be in the team, so making excuses in advance. Fortunately, there are enough attacking players in the team to cover up for the Dhonis, Rainas and other non performing chamchas, that India has as genuine shot at the WC as any other team.

Imbalanced Dhoni.
by Bharat Talwar on Feb 15, 2011 06:16 PM

I do not know why Dhoni is blaming other for the batting failure. Every time he says that his batsmen failed. If he reviews his own performance for the whole year he would realise that it is only he who has failed as a batsman. I recall an example of one of the greatest captains Mike Brealy. During the tour of Australia, I do not rememebr the year, he was not in form and so he himself opted out from the team for thenext match. This shows one's sportsman ship. Dhoni please take lesson from the past captains. BST
