Little reminder for Raja
by Sanjay on Feb 11, 2011 03:38 PM  | Hide replies

" Initially recognized as an extravagantly flamboyant and destructive batsman, Dhoni has come to be regarded as one of the coolest heads to captain the Indian ODI side. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, CB Series of 2007–08 , and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2008 in which they beat Australia 2–0. He also captained Chennai Super Kings to victory in the recent IPL 2010. He is now captain of India in all three forms of the game and also led the team to their first ever bilateral ODI series wins in Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Dhoni also led team India to number one position in ICC rankings in test cricket for the first time. Dhoni has also been the recipient of many awards including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first Indian player to achieve this feat), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour in 2009. Dhoni has won 13 MOM, 4 MOS in ODI and won 1 MOM in test. For a lower order batsman it's almost impossible.

If Sachin is made the captain of this very team, I am sure he will confuse everyone and presssurize all. which will become the factor for loosing. Accept it Captaincy needs skill and Dhoni has it

Sachin wouldn't take Captaincy... infact I don't think anyone in the side has the ballz to do Dhoni's job... it's all cool to complain about Dhoni but he is the only man fit for the role currently.

In all honesty I would like to see him lose Captaincy for T20 / ODIs as I think his batting would improve a great deal without this burden.

well sachin is already india's non-playing batsman and you want to make dhoni india's non-playing (?) captain!

Pseudo, you have to learn a lot about cricket. I suggest you start with 'Cricket For Dummies'. You will understand the basics of cricket there and hopefully in about 20 years of time you will have learnt enough to comment here intelligently... :)

His calm and reassured stance creates harmony in the team and that is reflected in performance. I can see this man lifting the cup this WC... quite deservedly :-)

Very True... Most Of the Worldcup winer team had excellent leader
by joydip bhattacharya on Feb 11, 2011 01:56 PM  | Hide replies

Clive Lyod, Kapil Dev, Allan Border, Imran Khan,Arjuna Ranatunga ..
If you consider them , except Ricky who was leading a great team , All of them was superb Captain and was respected for their Captaincy...None of the was best player for their team (may be some extend Kapil Dev in 1983 although we had Gavaskar) but they was highly respected for leadership.......

and that way I guess Dhoni is matchin all this criteria and most Probaly will play in this team only because of his Captaincy
