So let the Board also pay you n all players for only the number of overs played. Why should they waste money for 50 overs when players just play for themselves & not the team? Matches are won by anchors who stay put on the crease, not ready to give up till the last & also keep the score-board alive n kicking.

LOL virender sehwag is a match winner even if he bats for five overs. thats why everyone wants him to play the way he plays, coach and captain included. Worry if he starts thinking... thinking is not his cup of tea. And you leave the selectors to decide why they choose him.

by Praveen Kulkarni on Feb 11, 2011 05:57 PM  | Hide replies

Sunil Gavaskar played more than 50 overs in one day match in 1979. He came as openenr & remained not out at the end of the innings with score of 36.

i like that expression, it doesnt smack of overconfidence and is process oriented. he is keeping things simple...try to bat for 50 overs. just when i thought pathan was loosing his marbles and india threfore chances of winning sehvags statement gives confidence way to go india

Viru, if you batted for 50 overs, you can break Sachin's record of 200 runs. I hope you will do it in this world cup but please do it against good sides like Australia and Pakistan or not against Bangladesh or Holland.

ALL cricket nations can relax a little after your statement Viru. If you batted out 50 overs... what score would be expect from you??? Triple century tho, hogi,?!?! Paaji, please start batting out even 20-25 overs and India will win :-)
