Re: Timng of world cup is not suitable for students

Students are support to "study".. who is asking them to watch cricket?
if they watch cricket and do not get good grades it their fault.
Why would anyone watch the first round of the WC. The format is designed such that all 8 top teams make it to the second round. Essentially the first month of the world cup is a waste. And once into the second round, there is sudden death. Thoughtless format.

absolutely correct. this is indeed a very silly format. what is the point of having quarterfinals when there are only 8 serious teams in contention?? having super sixes would have ensured great interest in the first round because the points would have been carried forward making every single match important. in this quarterfinal format, a team can lose to all the test nations in its group and still make it to the quarters after beating the minnows. ridiculous!

Cannot agree more ! With just 8 serious teams the group stages are insignificant ! There may be only one surprise at the most.. 1987 and 1991-2 was the best format where only 4 teams qualified for the semi final making each match significant and interesting.. I think money rules over cricket , to keep every major country interested till the quarterfinals !but the format is killing my interest for the world cup..
