Whether he contributed or not is not the question. He earned so much money out of the game that he has insured his house for 100 crores ! If he had contributed to the game unselfishly then it is something. But to me, he can be given 'Khelratna' but not 'Bharatratna' ! There are so many players in the queue already. Dhyanchand, V Anand, Wilson Jones (Billiards), Michael Pareira, Prakash Padukone, Leander Paes etc. etc. They have also excelled in their games. Why not them ?!

Who stopped you from earning go ahead earn ...The truth is Man has sweated for every dime he made... How many ppl in the world know the names u wrote on ur list (No disrespect to those sportsmen)...Understand the difference..Whenever ppl sy abt others they say so and so player from India...When it comes to Sachin they don't have to say it they just say Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. "India" is invisiblly added in front of his name ...He has made nation more known , more proud, more respectful...
Dravid is ZERO in Flamboyance. He is like Saina Nehwal. Both having NO colourful Life, No Gossip,No Girl Friend/ Boy Friend. Result....... Extremely Low Endorsement Rate. In spite of being in cricket for 17 years and 13,000 runs, his endorsement Rate is Mere - 3 Crores per Brand !! Even Priyanka Chopra charges more than Dravid !!

Just like politicians....You peo they earnple have problem if they (cricketers) earn more money & you people have problem if they earn less. See them as a CRICKETER only and let them handle their personal matters themselves and keep your NOSE away from their life.

Dravid paid for his cricketing abilities, for what he deserves, not for Gossips,Girl Friends,Colourful Life nor for his flamboyance character. And as for as his endorsements he made more than 20 cores fans, where as you are talking about only 3 - 4 cores. Think different man.

this is the problem of our generation... we weigh every one with the money they have... how many rich people in history do we remember?? rich people just live thier life in comfort, they are no use to next generation (may be they tell how not be)... but an achiever's achievement will be the beacon of guiding light for the many more future generations to come.. not all can be rich but every one can achieve some thing or the other...

Ya, unfortunately cricket is a team game in which 11 players has to play. But, he is the only man who played for India

I don't agree that he has been playing for the country, rather always tried to defend his wicket and ended everything.

Now a days even test cricket is all about winning and not trying to play for draw. No dispute, Dravid is a good player but he has to change his mind set. A strike rate of 60-70% is required and not the way he bats now. Each team is trying to win matches and not trying to play for draw. Dravid's game strategy is to occupy the crease by not scoring many runs is not going to hep the team in any way in the world of modern test cricket. He has to change his approach or quit and save Team India from loosing match after match, overseas.

Dear friend, I am watching cricket for more than 30 years, even before Dravid started playing !!! Now a days every team is trying to win test matches and no one is interested to draw the matches. Earlier even a draw was considered equally good as a win. Now the approach to the game is totally changed. One man only standing in the middle and keep on defending does not look nice. Many teams lost matches since they opted to try and win. If they defended they could have drawn the matches. Dravid scored many runs in England, but have we won any game there?

I know u wanted team India won in UK So did we all..But the fact is we can not blame Rahul for low strike rate or slow innings becoz matches hardly even played for all 5 days..They all wrapped up within 4 days or so..So how come his slow innings hampered any victories...or was reason for losses...??

dear jay, y r u blaming dravid? is he the one to be blamed for india's loss?? he is the onlybatsman who has the temperament of playing test cricket and certainly deserves the name THE WALL.

the word 'only' is bit too much...rest all is understandable...FYI Rahul hates the word "The Wall"

I am not personally against Dravid. As I mentioned earlier I have been watching cricket for more than 30 years and there was time when a draw was also considered to be good enough. Now the situation is changed and I have changed my mind set according to the situation. Thats all. Cricket is a game for entertaintment.

Let us not forget Shewag holds the highest score in One day as well as Test matches even with his aggressive style of batting. He is capable of changing the trend of the match single handedly. He already scored 8000 plus runs in test cricket as well.

Sorry for test matches he is the highest scorer of 300 for Indian. Not even Sachin could make it.

Jayprakash:
Hmmmm so a 300 in Pakistan will win us 15 tests at MCG and England? Good. India no doubt is 1-0 up in the series right now according to your calculation besides the 4-0 victory in England? Excellent!!

Test Cricket is a 5 day game, some guys think it as it as twenty twenty and wanted every one to play that style, but the match will not last for 2 days. Dravid is a great player who plays for the team and contributed in all positions. Check the strike rate and score of other players in the last 2 or 3 series in outside India. you will find that most of the guys score with lower strike rate outside Indian subcontinent. You need technique and concentration to succeed outside. A team should be a blend of all type of players.
