Good joke. First of all, another batsman should even come close to scoring 100 centuries. Punter is at 69, Kallis is at 57...ha ha ha.

Anyone watching Sachin today had to know that there was a masterclass in action. Against some serious pace bowling in the 145-153 kmph range consistently from both ends, and Dravid having a terrible time against Pattinson but holding on bravely, Sachin rolled back the years to put on an absolute masterclass....the most telling moment was when he placed one boundary to perfection between the third slip and gully. Almost all the Aussies held their heads in frustration except Ponting who nearly clapped in awe....but then held back and turned away. Sachin was clearly frustrating and wowing the Aussies. It takes one legend to recognize the diffciulty of that shot by another. The way Dravid and Sachin talked each other out of the absolute barrage of speed bombs was a sight to watch. It took all their experience to combat that pace. Reciprocally it was almost as if Siddle and Pattinson were inspired by the presence of two legends. I saw Siddle and Pattinson against the Kiwis and they were no where close to remotely as hostile. Thats the greatest tribute an opposition can pay you....to borrow a thought from Jack Nicholson's line from As Good As It Gets....The two greats forced the Aussie pair to elevate their pace bowling to the next level. Who cares about Sachin's hundred ? Seriously I dont care when Sachin gets it anymore...batting like todays is like vintage wine...lets just savour it stroke by stroke and hope the bottle of his genius never ends.

I do not care when he gets his century of centuries. His display of batting today was a lesson to all who doubt his crucketing skills. The #1 and #2 of Indian run getters should be a toast to Indians (atleast to most of us),

Jai Hind.

Well said. Agree completely. Great batting display by sachin and rahul. 2 cover drives and 1 straight drive fron sachin were out of the copybook.

Absolutely. It was a gem of an innings from Sachin. Though the Aussies were bowling at their fiery best and gave a torrid time to Dravid, Sachin was in total command. Some of the strokes that he played today were really gem and speaks volumes about his greatness. In particular the exquisite cover drive and another on-drive past the bowler and the upper cuts he played off Siddle are something to cherish. It took an extremely good delivery from Siddle to get him. I am not sure why people are so obsessed with the 100th ton when we should be relishing this great innings.

Just forget abut sachin ton, from the time i started watching cricket in the late 80s till now,i think the present indian batting lineup is best among all the teams from the days of great viv richards, richardson, haynes, lara of WI to the invinvicble aussies under steve waugh and ponting.Veeru, sachin, dravid, laxman can be ranked as inside top 5 batting lineup of all time.

Sachin Scoring consistently
by Husein Danawala on Dec 27, 2011 03:40 PM  | Hide replies

I don't understand why all head lines state Sachin misses ton again. Why not appreciate that he has been a consistent performer and scored without a lean patch lately. Does scoring 100 only means he has played well? When other players score 50s consistently they are marked as top batsmen and if same Sachin is doing why he is termed the other way? I am not fan of only Sachin but love to watch Dravid and Laxman play as well. We would always prefer Sachin scoring such runs consistently rather that score one century and then have a lean patch for couple of series. When it is destined it will come...

That expectation itself makes Sachin different from others. A Ton is always a Ton and its Special. There is no doubt or Sachin has nothing to prove. But, the expectation of Special Performance are from Special Individuals only. Take it easy yaar.

That's true sir, HE has nothing much more. And for public too, anything less than a 100 is like a failure but yet will accept anything from HIM.

Very rightly said Husein. We r putting unwarranted pressure on the little genius. His 100th century will come just in due course. Nothing is more impt. than playing his natural game. Let Sachin take care of Indian team.country and the kind Khuda will take care of him

Sunny Gavaskar once mentioned that fans never acknowledge a Sachin's innings if it does not end in triple figures! I think it has something to do with his being what he is ! Today also he played a gem of an innings but like many i feel sad that the triple figure finally eluded him again !

Dravid should carry his bat while rest should rotate fast which they are very much capable. High 50s from all the rest of Dhoni, Lax, Kohli and another 100 from the rest of the remaining batsmen should keep Oz is extreme pressure then just take out one batsmen and see how the rest will fall.

BCCI has so much power-it's unfair. It was great old days in cricket when the ECB,MCC and the ACB ruled the roost and treated the Aisan teams like second class. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and we really cant take it anymore. They bulldozed us during Monkeygate and got our man Bucknor removed, and now they wont accept DRS and we cant do a thing about it.It's not a nice feeling to be powerless.
