The Kind of pressure Tendulkar and Dravid had on them was not there for any other players. How many times Tendulkar has been supported by our bowlers, when he played good innings?
It is very easy to say that he played for records and not contributed enough for his country in winning matches.

Thanks :)

Tendulkar vs Bradman
by VENKATESWARAN VISWANATHAN on Dec 23, 2011 12:32 PM  | Hide replies

The number of centuries scored by Sir Don has resulted in victories to the Aussies by and large. It is not so in the case of Sachin. During Sir Don Brandman's time there were no helmets, arm gaurds etc. Only Pad, Gloves were there. He played fast bowlers with ease and the spinners with more ease. Those days the gap between test matches were more than 3 to 5 years but still Don maintained his form. No one can come even near Sir Don in cricket, Pele in football, Dayan Chand in Hockey and Rod Laver in Lawn tennis. Times have changed and along with that protective gears have also been added. The games will not see any more legends like these .

EVERYONE during that era was playing good cricket. Refer to an Aussie research on the topic which shows Sachin ahead of Don.

So what? Should Sachin play without helmet to prove he is better than someone? Those thing were not available so not used! Is that Sachin's fault?

Bradman never came to sub continent. He played mainly in England and Australia, then how he is great?

1. Harold Larwood was the main one who was very dangerous even to Bradman, others were reasonable but Bradman made them look bad. Larwood in Test matches average was 28.35 and at an economy rate of 2.67 which even by modern standards is very good in tests.

2. Test Cricket was the only form of cricket in which cricket was existed during the era of Don Bradman. The only suited format for him as per his Strike Rate of 29.7 and whereas today's batsmen have to adjust himself for every possible format such as T20/ODIs/Test Cricket.

3. Australians were the best bowlers during the time of Don Bradman, so naturally Australia used to win those matches :)

4. Playing without protective gear was a real brave thing to do in those days (full credit to the Don). But batsmen nowadays have extra weight to carry because of these protective gears. Isnt extra weight an inhibitor to score runs freely?

5. How do you compare someone playing 2 matches per year against the same team to someone playing 50 matches a year against different teams? It makes no sense. You can attribute it to a sentence "This is a part of the game" :)

I am not at all discrediting Sir Don Bradman, but to compare legends holds no value.

Well said mate...Now-a-days people with cricketing brain has come down due to the advent of T-20...Comparisons can not be made wrt different eras...everyone should acknowledge that both Don and Sachin were great players of theur time..:)

5. 2 matches a year.
bradman played 52 matches in 20 years and out of these 20 he did not play for 8 years,so it comes out to be 52 in 12 years, more than 4 matches a year.
here u r talking only about international matches if u take into account the first class matches they r more or less the same.

get the facts right first.

point 2.
now a days cricketer has to adjust to all formats including T20. Tendu has only played in one T20 international. here u take into acount teh ipl matches but when it comes to bradman u just ignore the 200 plus first class matches he played.

look at the fist class average of both the players, the difference is enormous and both have palyed more or less the same number of matches.
no match.

quality of bowling, oppositon . what say :)

.Rocky, 1 3 & 5 points have no answers?

Point 2&5: playing first class matches does not have the pressure which is felt during an international matches. That is why u see many cricketers making it big in Ranji/1st class and failing in the international scene.

Gadhe, I am not telling Sachin is great. I am asking people not to compare legends. If u disagree that either one is a legend, I DONT CARE :)

Wrong. Harold Larwood bowled in the Bodlyine test series and Bradman scored a century in that series and his average was 56, which is where Sachin's average hovers all thorugh his carrer, wirth all the atronaut padding.

The difference in Bradman's overall career avg. and any of his peers and succeeding palyuers is around 40 runs, with the 2nd highest at 61-62. tendulkar is at 57 runs per Test. So inflating him is pointless.

Bradman played the fastest bowlers of his era on uncoevered pitches, without helmets, when the entire fielding was on the legside and the bowling was bodyline, moreoever the bats in those days did not have extra sweet spots, unlike today where even mishits go for 6 and 4s. your are actually being disengenious when you say that helmets nad better bats and protective gear have inhibited criekters, actually they are now free to come on front foot to play fast bowlers!

And if ODI T20 and Test have to be clubbed then why not consider Jack hobbs who scored 200 first class hundreds. this seems to be an all oput attepmt to impose a 57 avg player over a 99 avg player whern both of them played for 20 years. remember Bradman started his career in 1928 and retired in 1948, while losing 5 years during WWII

Hayat, Bradman also struggled during his 232 in the bodyline series. His avg improved because of that one innings only. And we also know Sachin's 243* vs Aus which he struggled, hasnt it helped in his avg? I am a cricketer by myself and know the inhibition provided by the so called heavy protecting hear.

Bring Jack Hobbs or Anil Ambani, I never asked you not to!! Here, the comparison is between Sachin and Don Bradman.....

Finally Gadhe, I am not telling Sachin is the greatest. It is u silly fools who are inflating him. I am asking people not to compare legends. If u disagree that either one is a legend, I DONT CARE :)

playing for the team cause and not worrying about personal milestones.. while batting making sure the partner also gets the time to play his part. sachin is only bothered about himself getting the strike. if you had noticed sachin gets to his centuries mostly by scoring ones and twos right from 80 runs. no wonder he has scored most centuries and the team has lost on most occasions.

One more article to rake up debates, emotions on SRT by people like you.

We haven't heard about this chap Tony Shillinglaw till now as a cricketer and as a coach too. Suddenly he comes out with some report and makes news? I am sure there will be hundred more tests being done to decide who is better..... And we would continue to hear these. And people like rocky have more and more to criticize SRT.
