This author has no knowledge or sensitivity to Anil Kumble;s achievements. Look at his overall record vs Oz in India and Australia. No other spinner has been a greater match winner for India. How many spinners Bedi and Prasanna have takn 5 wkt hauls on first day of a test match like jumbo did at MCG in 2007 tour. Prepostrous to exclude India;s highest wicket taker and biggest match winner

Because the Aussies and South Africans demystified Kumble and he was not effective against them. Actully it was SA tour which started the decline of Kumble's career as he was virtually wicketless at graet cost of runs. As I read that SA players decided to play him as a'slow- medium' bowler rather than as spinner !
tendulkar is automatic choice at no.4 even for all time world 11....infact the first thing you should chose is tendulkar at 4 and then the rest of the team....gundappa can bat at 5
with the team. But on wat yardstick this team has been selected?based on techiniques ,average and temperaments alone?or based on the ability to face fearsome bowling attacks?

Missing Kumble, my friend. You cant ignore India's biggest match winner and his record against Oz home and away is exceptional. 619 wkts is no joke at outstanding S/R of 29 runs per wicket over a lon period cant be ignored. The author has forgotten the five wicket haul Jumbo took on first day of a test match at MCG on 2007 tour. Havent seen a lot of spinners do that on a fast wicet..certainly not an Indian. This is an insult to an all time great
His aggressiveness brought the temperament to fight neck to neck against Australia. Before him Indian team was always a looser to Australia. If he was not present we can't even think of making a team against Australia today.
