Dropping Hughes and inclusion of Cowan is poor step by selectors.

OUT OF FORM
by THOMAS SEBASTIAN on Dec 21, 2011 04:59 PM

batsmen among Aussies wiil get into smashing
form against Indian bowling. This happened so often in the past.By the end of this series Ponting and the like would be smiling again.

rotation allows for rehabitation of all bowlers
by D S on Dec 21, 2011 04:45 PM  | Hide replies

so selectors should have plan to have most of the team with 100% fitness. even yadav went away once due to injury.

rehabilitation(massage, mild therapy water rehab, etc) is possible for bowlers coming out of injury. It can be rotation of 2-3 over between three bowlers.
For example, here is rotation plan for bowler x, y and z for 3 over spells.
3(x), 3(y), 3(z)
the bowler coming out of injury is x can do 3 over spell before going for rehab while the next "two bowlers" y and z complete 3 overs between them.
x comes of rehab and does 3 over spell with only y or x from opposite end or "both y and z" rotating on opposite end.
Many combinations are possible such that x can have rehab after 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 over spell depending on his ease and recovery level. we can also send y and z for rehabilitation during the bowling rotation.

Very good question .

This is an Indian site, so the news published here are generally focussed on India.

England and South Africa are not scheduled to play against India in the near future, so media is not bothered about Strauss and Smith.

Sehwag is fresh from his 219, Gambhir too got some of his form back.

So, Ponting is the only one.

How many articles on Ponting (or other Australian cricketers) you see in rediff when India is not playing Australia ?

About Ricky Ponting
by shrivastav anilkumar on Dec 21, 2011 02:41 PM

Ponting, Sachin are different class player, People are always expecting more from them, But when they play average game,Everybady make comment upon them, unnecesary raise pressure upon them. Allow them to play their natural game then only they can give good result, This is also a main cause about Sachin and he unable to make hin 100th century because of more expectation from us. Wonder what some characters here who are pro ponting talk if Sachin had a similar lean patch. But of course Sachin never had such a horrible patch. I guess ponting is a human being too.

Smart decision...
by jaguar on Dec 21, 2011 11:35 AM  | Hide replies

Its a smart decision by the Aussie to retain/prefer experience. Ponting is just one big knock away to get back to top form.. and probably, Indian bowlers would offer him this opportunity on a platter!!

This one big knock is a joke!! Sehwag hit a double century against WI after a lean patch of more than two years and now he will not play good for next two years. Still selectors have to keep him in the team saying he is just one big know away !!

Guys : There’s a difference between Sehwag’s style of play with Ponting’s. Sehwag is a maverick, he’s fully capable of scoring a triple hundred in one game and getting a perfect zero in the next. Ponting is a different level with the likes of Lara & Tendulkar. When greats like Lara & Tendulkar go thru a lean phase all then need is that one big knock to regain form.. Ponting case is very much similar. So It would be unfair to compare him with Sehwag.
