Australia can exploit India's weak bowling: Warne

ponting should not retire
by cool dude on Dec 21, 2011 01:13 AM

Ponting is nowhere in his best form and he is an easy wicket for india. At best he could make a sedate 100 in one of the matches which will have no bearing on the result what so ever. So it is advantage for india if he is selected.
Moreover, he is like an elephant in the dressing room who needs to be pulled. His selection frustrates many players and they also can not perform well. CA made Watson and marsh fake injuries just to justify his selection.
Ponting is responsible for early retirement of greats like warne, mcgrath and gilchrist. Because they can not play under untalented leader. Warne continues playing even now for money, so he can easily play for australia longer time if he was made captain. Then australia would still be number 1, or at most number 2.
I am keeping fingers crossed for ponting selection.

Not weak

But the weakest bowling attack among the top 6 test playing nations. Our selectors have provided much needed tonic for the aussie batsmen

Though I am from Karnataka, I still don't feel that Abhimanyu Mithun & Vinay Kumar had to be selected.

Instead we could have taken Ashish Nehra and RP Singh / Shreeshanth & Munaf Patel.

Vinay Swings the ball, and this time Indians plans is to attack the aussies with swing bowling. Hence Vinya is selected when Praveen is injured. Mithun is selected for his pace, he has open chest bowling action like Bret Lee, and with that action, he can generate pace and on bouncy wicket, it helps.

One of them could be a potential dark horse in Australian conditions - who knows! But rather than Ishant they should have selected Irfan, so that we could go with two all rounders - Jadeja and Irfan

Some predictions!!
by Sanjay Singh on Dec 20, 2011 11:05 AM  | Hide replies

Friends, here are some predictions to boost your appetite:
1.      The test series will end with a score of 1-1, with two week and depleted teams battling it out
2.      The find of the series for India will be Umesh Yadav and Ashwin in the bowling department and Rohit and Virat in batting
3.      Irfan will again make a comeback during the tour
4.      The failures will be Dhoni and Ishant Sharma, who will both shame themselves, the selectors and the country
5.      Sachin will complete his ton of tons at the very last moment
6.      Dravid twice and Laxman once will be the saviours for our team

Unfair Umpire decisions & Rain will also Favour Australia and India might end up losing 3-0 or worse 4-0 like in England.

Well said Sanjay. Though I agree with most of ur predictions, it is fine if India win the series hook or crook. We should not be whitewashed like Natwest series in England. Frankly, I will be surprised if Ishant/Zaheer complete this series without any injuries!

Shane Warne is Right
by RSS on Dec 20, 2011 10:35 AM  | Hide replies

Most Foreign teams thrive on Indian bowler's weaknesses, we still have to devise a strategy to get the last 5 wickets cheaply like how other teams do regularly.

We end up conceding 100 or 150 runs for last 5 wickets.

Easy! Let us now advocate for 5 wicket matches only! The last 5 wickets cannnot bat! Simple

If our bowling unit does well, Shane Warne has to bite the dust!! I sincerely hope Zaheer & Ishant maintain fitness so that we have a good chance to rule the kangaroo land!!

Very true! However, I still feel that Irfan would have been a better choice compared to Ishant who has failed on most occassions

Rightly said..... I would have preferred Irfan for his experience in Australia rather than go with an unfit Ishant.

I think Indian bowling can shine in Australia much better. Pitches there help bowlers a lot.

Yes it is. But one also needs to know the line and length to bowl in australia. Varies from place to place.

You could have added Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Dinda, A Aravind, Goni, Pankaj Singh who are equally faster in bowling like bowlers you named.
