Chappell ? hahahah
by Anantha BY on Dec 19, 2011 10:34 PM

Look, he got the World's No 2 team (India was runner up in 2003 world cup) and turned it to rankless team in just two years... If that is not performance then what is ? Again to prove a point, the Indian team with a better coach, again showed they are champions in the very next World cup... So there is something called Chappell effect (or Iron Leg concept)

Dont misread Ganguly
by sanjay mahadik on Dec 19, 2011 10:18 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly was agressive by his nature and that only saw india play semifinals in 2003. Reverse Dravid was always cool and coolest-will never utter a word even if captain says to bowl, that is his nature. Both are really greats. Chappel an Australlian was a idiot and Dravid will not utter a word even though.

Well may be because it was Sourav who recommended Greg for the coach job,...Sourav and Dravid trusted each other and they both are good friends both on and off field..however their natures are different...Dravid is soft spoken and Ganguly is aggressive..may be over aggressive at times

Dravid always talks with his bat, and so his mouth remained cheerful. Both Ganguly and Greg are bird of same feathers, they can always talk and sometimes bat.....and so the ill feeling

Difference between Dravid and Ganguli
by NAGRAJ KV on Dec 19, 2011 10:00 PM  | Hide replies

1) Ganguli's bat stopped talking long ago but Dravid prefers to answer all his critics with his bat.
2) Ganguli has his whole state backing him but Dravid doesn't have that. This is because in Bengal cricketwise there is very less talent but in karnataka you had GR Viswanath, BS Chandrashekar, Anil Kumble... the list goes on..so Bengalis cannot accept dropping of Ganguli.Even Tendular does not have this much backing from his state.
3) Ganguli has the backing of entire media(even now) which others do not enjoy.
4)Ganguli had the support of a great player of yester years because that man wanted to promote his son's carees in India and from Bengal. Others do not have this type of support.
5)Ganguli must consider himself lucky for the long career he had despite him continuous failures at the end. Compare this with VVS and Dravid. They have to peform in all their matches.. else some one will start naying for their blood.
6) Old Players are afraid to make comments against Ganguli. they are worried about the backlash in bengal. Take this example... Kapil once hinted at the retirement of Tendulkar but when it came to Ganguli he just commented ' It is his (Ganguli) decision as to when to retire'.
7) When out of form Dravid, Kumble, VVS, tendulkar fight and get back to grove. But when dropped Ganguli just folded up.
8) It is said Ganguli chose when to bat agaist which opposition, which pitch et. Dravid plays whereever his team management want to bat.

Nagraj,

Ganguly and Dravid are both great cricketers and if contribution to Indian cricket is concerned Ganguly's as captain and player is comparable to anyone else.

Also do not have a short memory, after making his comeback Ganguly was the highest scorer for the team that year, he made a 100 in his last match!

Dravid is a great player especially in tests, however he too had his weak points in ODIs because of slow scoring and Dravid was never a natural leader and Ganguly always was, everyone around the world agrees.

Regarding Chappel everyone agrees that he was a bad influence, each and every player has supported Ganguly including Sachin. It is very clear now who was at fault during that time.

So it is sad when you say that only Bengalis supported him, many others also supported him and still support him.

You can find a video in Youtube where Kapil attributes India's aggressive winning attitude to Ganguly and then Dhoni.

If still you feel that Bengalis only support him, then it is shame for the rest of the Indians who could not do so for reasons best known to them!

Nagraj donot understand what Ganguli is saying!!Dravid is always a great player but that doesnot mean you have got right to undermine Ganguli! Accept his contribution to the Indian Cricket !Nagraj you have got no right to criticise Bengal & Bengali simply because Ganguli is a Bengali player !Gentlemen knows when to speak & where to stop!!I feel sorry for you!

it was quite obvious that dravid wanted to be captain and he wanted ganguly out. dravid did bot find a place in the odi team for some time due to his having only shots on the onside. if onside was blocked by fielders dravid would not be able to score. ganguly told him that he could be in the team if he agreed to be wicket keeper for the world cup. dravid agreed but had a grudge against him. he took revenge at the instance of greg. it is quite certain that greg wanted the indian team to be in disarray. he hated ganguly for beating the aussies. dravid and some other cricket administrators also agreed to denigrate ganguly at the expense of the national team. the tema lost horribly in the world cup. without ganguly dravid was just not up to the job. dravid has learnt to drive thru the offside now but he was just a onside palyer earlier. so nagraj you are a kanndiga and just be that and not an indian.

Chappel, Ganguly affairs
by PRADIP BISWAS on Dec 19, 2011 09:58 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly wanted chappel as coach not dravid, it is bad taste from ganguly's part to make some comment on dravid, who is a gentleman, he proved it many a times. though ganguly was a superb player but without jagmohan dalmia he would not have got a chance in indian team and ganguly back-stabbed him in return just to be in good book of buddhadev bhattacharjee then CM of bengal. obviously act of selfishness from such a well admired cricket player, well, he did not play cricket then and again now he is not playing cricket when making such comment on dravid.

Greg Chappel always controversial
by anand datar on Dec 19, 2011 09:36 PM

Greg Chappel was always controversial. He was the one who bowled an underarm ball to prevent the batsman from hitting a sixer! Otherwise he was one of the best batsmen of his time. It always appeared that he had lot of time to play any ball, just like Inzamam ul Haq.

This is a personal ego between Ganguly & Chappel. But he shouldn't blame Dravid on this.

Inorder to get TV contract, he is blaming dravid.
