Re: choice

no chance. if irfan can reduce 10kmph from his bolwing speed he can compete with Ashwin for a spot. what say
Irfan would be a better replacement for Ishant. We need some good swing bowlers to tackle the Aussies, and i see Irfan filling that spot. In fact, Irfan and PK are similar bowlers who rely on swing and clever bowling than raw pace. Nehra is also a good option, but not sure if he is in good form. Form should be the most important aspect when selecting any player as replacement. So, it should be either Irfan or Nehra.

Why not Balaji. You say Nehra is good option without knowing his form, fitness and age?Why are like this guys?

You can ask about Nehra's form and fitness. What has got age to do with anything? HE bowls at 140K and swings the ball and is experienced. However, I like Irfan too for his all round abilities. He seems eager.

Nehra is a good bowler comparing other slow bowlers like mithun, vinay in our team
...should be the obvious choice provided he's fit and available. In 2008, Ishant was just as raw as Aaron is now, and yet he tormented Ponting like he (Ponting) can never forget. Aaron can do something similar; he's got pace, he's smart and he's fearless. Otherwise, Irfan Pathan should get a chance.

This brings to debate Aaron's injury just before the tour to make room for Ishant. What next? Aaron has a miraculous recovery and is bundled in the next flight to Australia. Nehra would have been an obvious choice. His record on seaming wickets is incredible and is second only to Zaheer to trouble some of the best batsmen known. Irfan is finally showing some strength and bending his back while bowling. Would be good to have him back in the side and cement his place as a bowler who can bat a bit rather than a batsmen bowler.

Are you so misinformed? Varun Aaron is injued and in his place Vinay Kumar was selected. Why do you bring Varun Aaron who is out of contention.
This is what too much cricket can do. There was absolutely no need for the return series against England and the short series with the WI. BCCI just want to make more money out of the Indian team at the expense of causing harm to these boys. we could have avoided this 2 recent sets of matches and got the boys fresh and ready for the Australian tour. Absolute shame on BCCI.
With concerns about Ishant's fitness, the news from the Indian domestics is about 27 year old TP Sudhindra. In the recently concluded drawn match against Haryana, TP Sudhindra takes a 10 wicket haul.
TP Sudhindra, is the only bowler in domestic FC who is listed on the cricinfo profile as right arm fast. That also does not include Ishant, Zaheer, Yadav and Aaron are listed fast-medium to medium. Parvindar Awana is listed medium pace and his RC record is 103 wickets at 29 as compared to TP Sudhindra who is 98 wickets at 21.5 with genuine pace.
Is TP Sudhindra quicker than everyone else we know? His ECO rate is impressive 2.48 as well. He was picked in the recent Challenger series for the Red team and did very well.
Why was'nt he picked for the Indian teams in the past? Well, age could be a concern, but still has 4-5 years left in him and India could have used him.
Another factor could be that he was playing in the plate leagues may have inflated his average. We did not have this isse with Umesh Yadav from Vidharba as long as he was quick.
I think the selectors should fly him over to Australia as a replacement before the 2nd warm up tour game on Dec 19 and have him play that. He could be available if not for the 1st Test but can be ready and acclimatised for the 3rd or 4th Test.
We dont think Ishant can survive the 4 Test series or if someone else breaks down. Right now we have Praveen, Varun unfit and the list could grow just like the last England series.
If ishant is injuired than replace him with TP Sudhindra(Madhya Pradhesh) or Parvinder Awana (Delhi) whr both bowl around 145 kph consistently ... not spinners like irfan or vinay

Just bowling 145kph does not qualify as a bowler who can get wickets in tests. They may bowl fast at 145kph for 5 overs and then switch to gentle medium pace for the next 30 overs. Besides they have not proved themselves as tearway fast bowlers in even Ranji matches. So why should they be selected?
