With concerns about Ishant's fitness, the news from the Indian domestics is of 27 year old TP Suhindra. In the recently concluded drawn match against Haryana, TP Suhindra takes a 10 wicket haul.
TP Suhindra, is the only bowler in domestic FC who is listed on the cricinfo profile as right arm fast. That also does not include Ishant, Zaheer, Yadav and Aaron! who are listed fast-medium.
Is Subhindra quicker than everyone else ? His eco rate is impressive as well. He was picked in the recent Challenger series for the red team and did very well.
Why was'nt he picked for the Indian team ? Well age could be a concern, but still has 4-5 years left in him and India could have used him.
Another factor could be the plate leagues may have inflated his average. We did not have this problem with Umesh Yadav from Vidharba as long as you have pace.
I think the selectors should fly him over to Australia as a replacement before the 2nd warm up tour game on Dec 19 and have him play that. He could be available if not for the 1st Test but can be ready and acclimatised for the 3rd or 4th Test.

The selectors probably had a reason. Plate league cricket plus age was a factor. He also played for the rebel ICL league and the BCCI might take that against you.

Dinda averages 31 as compared to 21.5 for TP Sudhindra. Dinda is listed medium fast.
predicted this.... I remember the former speedster saying during India's tour of England that if Ishant is postponing his ankle surgery so that he can tour Australia, then he is in danger of aggravating his injury. Because the Australian grounds are harder than anywhere else in the world, and small niggles could become serious injuries. But Ishant, who is 'the fittest and the best fast bowler in the world' didn't seem to care.
Already we have one half fit zaheer khan . Now with another langda Ishant we will only have one bowler left in the test. Then Dhoni will open the bowling.
There is no doubt he is carrying an Ankle Injury. If he is allowed to bowl in the first test he will bowl 2 overs and retire. Send Irfan Pathan immediately to replace him.

Irfan/Nehra should be kept ready, I don't thinks Ishant is fit, what if he breaks during a match than India will be a bowler short and with no bowling allrounder it will be a tragedy, My vote goes for Irfan Pathan.

You are absolutely right. First of all I dont know why they have Ishant in the squad when he himself had said that he needs an operation on his ankle but will do that only after the Australian tour. Irfan Pathan is the right choice as his swing was back and was looking good in the Windies ODI.
For some players it is picnic with quota system still prevalent . Hopefully he will not be selected for test and then he will bowl some 5 overs and Zaheer 10 over and we are back to England .So there is some merit in soft ware to monitor players .
For some reason one can make out that Ishant is not 100% fit, Somethings going on, i think the Indian team need to look for a replacement before the test starts.
