What Gili says makes lot of sense. Never in the past during India's visit were the Aussies in such vulnerable position. India may or may not win but the fact remains it is the best chance for India to capitalize. For that first and foremost ,India will have to sort out the Sehwag-Gambhir opening pair problem which looks in total disarray. While Sehwag might still come good in bouncy pitches there but Gambhir's problem look really serious and needs to be sorted out before the tour commences. Second, both Rohit and Kohli need to be in the playing XI and if reqd. Gambhir could be dropped for that. Dravid and Sehwag can open with Kohli,Sachin,Rohit, laxman and Dhoni to follow. Alternately if Gambhir recovers, then Laxman and Sachin can be rotated to accommodate boh Rohit and Kohli. May be by 11th Dec. after completion of the WI one dayer series there will be more clarity on Gambhir.
Gilchrist in Mumbai is making Indians feel good by saying India will win. But I am sure we will lose the series like in England. The reasons are :
1. Tendulkar will as usual be under severe pressure for his 100th ton. He made a blunder by not playing the ODI's against WI where he could have done with this monekey on his back.
2. Except few batsman like Dravid, Rohit & VVS, the rest cannot bat on the bouncy pitches. Dhoni will fail miserably and Sachin too with the demons in his mind.
3. The bowling attack is too inexperienced to succeed since we are not consistent in line, length. Australian batsman are used to playing bowlers at 140 speeds consistently. So Yadav & Aaron will not be a threat. Ishant is toothless already & Zaheer still unfit. So bowling out Australia twice in a test seems difficult.
4. Though the Australian bowling attack is also inexperienced, they have some exciting talent who can make the ball zip and test the Indian batsman.
5. Ultimately, the battle is between the Indian & Austalian batting line up. Both teams have inexperienced bowling attack and only the team with better batting will dominate.
6. Ponting and Usman Khawaja will top the batting for Australia. Ponting will definitely answer the critics and Khawaja is an extremely talented batsman suited to Test cricket.
It is always safe to assume India will lose so that we dont lose heart when they indeed lose. If they win, it will be great and we all will surely rejo

Gilly did not utter rubbish comments... He said "Australia need to be on TOP OF THEIR GAME" to hold on to their undefeated record at home!
TOP OF THE GAME - Means do ANYTHING to win! Gilly knows what it is... :-)

I gotta feeling that this young lad would achieve greater success against India. He's really quick and on those aussie pitches, he could be more than a handful to Indian batters. To avoid another white-wash sehwag/gambhir and the holy trinity must be at the top of their games. It ain't going to be easy down under.

Don't count on Sehwag and gambhir. They are already having sleepless nights ahead of Oz tour and that reflects in their performance in the WI series.

you morons ... Gambhir and Sehwag will ensure that we have decent and fast start and Aussies declare late in 2nd innings(sehwag factor). Dhoni will be a zombie in Aus.

Rahul : Every indian cricket fan including myself would hope that your words on sehwag/gambhir come true.. however,it's also a fact that they are yet to shine in the on-going series.
someone said that it would be great if Channel 9 legend commentators like Bill Lawry , Tony Greig or richie Benaud would describe the 100th 100 by Sachin in Ind aus series well Bill the most exciting commentator could well be on the mike on channel9 but sadly Indians would not get that . Star cricket would have their own boring bunch of Manjrekar and Saurav who will make listening to that piece most boring

Why you guys so obssessed with sachin's 100th 100? He will get it sooner than later. But, we need to do well in australia and that is more important.

i am not .Please read and understand what I meant . I am telling about the horrible standards of Espn commenatary compared to the brilliant Channel 9 team. Any person who has played about 700 international games will get close to the 100 100's so it is not such great

Any person who had played 1400 internationals would have been close to 200 centuries. Wonder why that not is?
