It seems the current day players (Which could be as far as Tendulkar also) are out of touch with the LONG FORMAT OF Cricket, which had been the only one in the PAST YEARS (A generation back!!).
The reason could be because of 1 Day has gained immense popularity over the other because there is more MONEY for EVERYONE (Players, Businessmen and the Government - BCCI specially).
At this time I feel BCCI has gone overboard with 1 DAYERS (IPL) for MONEY at the cost of Cricket the Game. There should be a reasonable modulation. We should take a leaf from England's preparation to thrash us this time.
Bottom line: No one can take any thing for granted. DEDICATION and SELF DISCIPLINE are some key factors to success. Does not matter who you are.

Coming to the next part the above discussion, Below are the must do items.
* BCCI must be governed by people who has proven records and experience DIRECTLY in CRICKET, like Gavaskar, M Amarnath, Kapil Dev and other successful cricketer from the past. NO REGIONAL LEVEL CATEGORIZATION.
* Team selection MUST be at NATIONAL LEVEL, NOT REGIONAL LEVEL. THE BEST GETS SELECTED. It\'s a big Joke India a country of a BILLION cannot have good 22 cricket Players.
* BCCI should encourage young player to play and gain exposure in County Cricket and others.
Although I am not denying his point here in this article, this cheap politican always had issues with India and Indian cricket in general. He had never made any positive comment about India ever..
I rather listen to Ian Chappell, Kumble and others over this rotten Rantunga..

Ya, Ranatunga is a silly fool. Though i agree with him on the IPL, it is better for him to think of the Srilankan Premier League better than commenting on IPL.
Its all opportunism. When India won the first T20 Worldcup, Peterson was heard saying that "See how IPL has paid high dividends to Indian Team". The same Englishmen now says that IPL has ruined Indian cricket.

If I am not mistaken, India won the T20 worldcup in 2007 and IPL started in 2008. So I dont see Peterson making such a comment.

It was Pieterson and Swann who made such comments about IPL earlier this year.
Swann said India's limited overs success in last few years had lot do with the IPL and he even went to the extent where he questioned ECB for not having windows for the english player to play in IPL..
nithung stops dravid to play Ipl and yet be good in test.English pacers and spinner could putt indians on backfot to kill them with speed and rising short pitched, indians were ineffective with feet to anull swing or spin. Especially the ball landing closer to line of off stumps to swing out with rise. Even on spin, Sehwag could not move to front to anull ball landing closer to stumps. Swann attacked mishra bat to miss it and spin into wicket. Same thing the pacer planned on mukund.
