1.Pujara is injured for long long time.2. Dhawan, manish pandey, for sure can not bat againstENG bowlers..coz they played only one session IPL impressively.. thats not enough for sure..... 3. R.sharma is getting his form back and will be playing ODIs in Eng..let c.. how he accepts the offer... Rahne got the offer at right time...let c hoe he accepts..parthiv what basis he will get selected? WK or batsman? if WK,,,then dhoni has to fry the EGGS? if batsman,, now top order is not getting double digit.. how parthiv can withstand...rayudu will definitely have a look.....after some time..... do not abuse for 1 series lose...s... we lost badly.... but now we need to grow... fast bowlers as doubler than batters...

That's about it with our players...

Ironically the only one who performed is over 38 yrs old and constantly playing cricket as well. Then what's wrong with youngsters and captain?

batting failure indeed
by anil c on Aug 23, 2011 09:15 PM  | Hide replies

The art of leaving the ball is what the indians have forgotten. The effect of IPL had led them to put bat to every ball bowled at them resulting in snicks. On subcontinental tracks this would be effective but not overseas. It was a pure batting failure. They dint know which ball to attack, leave out, defend and so on.

Too much cricket cricket may b a reason but its in fact too much of the 3 diff variety of cricket.

Injuries apart, it was overall batting failure that did India in
by A Singh on Aug 23, 2011 09:05 PM  | Hide replies

The title of this article(?) has been published in a manner to suggest that it is the conclusion of a long and elaborate study of what went wrong on this tour!
Everybody knows the batting has failed miserably. It would have been better if the writer had dwelt on why this happened, or what can be done to stop recurrence of the failure at this scale.

england relies heavily on mistiming and misjudgement of indian batsmen to outswingers on high pace and rising balls to give snicks or get hit on stumps by odd inswinger or incutter.
Angrez batting has practiced it against angrez bowling so not suseptible to such tactics. Swann relied heavily on player missing his high speed spin with angle in to hit wicket or give snick. He also rubs into the umpire by agression to gain LBWs.
Again, both spinners and pacers rely heavily on mistiming and misjudgement of indian batting.

it is not batting failure...
by kiran kumar on Aug 23, 2011 09:02 PM  | Hide replies

...it is utter lack of technique in handling the swinging and seaming ball.

Batting Failure , yes

How about the fact that the bowlers haven't been able to get 20 wickets in any match

they have taken a grand total of 47 wickets while giving away a gazillion runs.

The max the batsmen could have done in this case was to draw the match. There was no chance of a win with such world class bowlers that we have

Pay up
by Gotchi on Aug 23, 2011 09:02 PM

When these bunch of b_o-z_os win a series or world cup they are given prices bonuses and endorsements. Now they must be asked to pay back all that money. Many many fans spend their bit of spare income to make these lallus rich and they are not giving them their money's worth then pay back.
