The bottom line is : Test opening pair was out of sync
by Nikhil Shah on Aug 24, 2011 11:34 PM

The aftermath of this series boils down to one thing. Over the past 7 tests or 14 innings they had the right and best options in the WI tour of Mukund and Vijay. Should they have continued to England?

In the absence of Shewag and Gambhir. So for the England tour should the selectors go with a pair which has been playing but not as established as Gambhir and Sehwag?

This resulted in India getting poor starts for the last 14 Test innings. What is the solution then?

It would be better to not rest the openers. Shewag was injured but that was not avoidable. Missing both openers in WI was a problem.

Murali Vijay had bailed Gambhir out in India, but it is not possible to bail both out at the same time.

The inclusion of Ishant and Gambhir has made a big difference to the Indian side over the last 2 years. We hope Varun Aaron and Rahane can add to this difference.

Though Ishant has slowed down, Varun will make a similar impact early. If he can decide to focus more high nutrition diet and a very strict fitness regimen along with playing lesser cricket than needed.

Varun Aaron in this short List-A career has an eco rate of 4.6, which makes him a legitimate contender with his pace to survive the Indian team.

It is because of playing too much cricket that affected the performance of our players.you most of british cricket players hibernated during the Ipl league. Meet the world no.1 on one day team again u will find out that youll are babies of cricket. our player are tired and injured of playing too much cricket. you weak bones youll have strength to play as much cricket as we Indians do, youll colonisers reap benefit from the hardwork of others

atleast eng had that instinct so even after 3-0 win, they werent complacent. unlike ind which is known to win a single test in the series n then go for dull draws.

Yes I agree...The best example was in the west indies - no desire to be the best. They were just content with being the OK team.

fit players
by vinay on Aug 23, 2011 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

fit players. players r always fit before start of ipl, but they become sick, tired, unmotivated during national duties. look at gambhir he 'skipped' wi tour.

zaheer is best example he is becoming another nehra unfit during national matches but perfect fit during ipl.

Well said... That's why he averaged 34 in the series... If he was fit and didn't need rest he would have averaged 134... :)
