RANKING 1
by Gopal Krishnan on Aug 23, 2011 10:52 AM

Too much is being made about Ranking. First of all I do not agree that we were the best Test team but it happened because of some statistical calculations. Statistics are like bikini bathing suit. What it reveals it attractive but what it concels is vital. How did we accept that we were No.1 team especially when we do not have 3 quality Pacers, one threatening spinner and a real alrounder who could be counted upon both as a batsman or as a bowler. The least said about fielding will be good. It was a sheer fluke that we were No. 1 or it may be because others played badly or did not give any importqnce to the tag. Any way we have enjoyed the honeymoon and let us forget ever to be No. 1. After all we do not deserve it. Take it from me, struggling in home conditions is also not very far off.

Replacements
by Balakrishna on Aug 23, 2011 10:17 AM

India Still can compete well in England provided they focus on their bowling, batting and fielding. With the news coming in about replacements for the injured players, if India chalk out a good strategy for replacements. Dinesh Karthik is a good batsman and Irfan Pathan is a good allrounder.

BCCI is a stupid organisation full of jokers
by Joy Gupta on Aug 23, 2011 09:56 AM

BCCI is run by morons who have no knowledge of cricket. How can we expect people like N Srinivasan, Rajiv Shukla, Shashank Manohar etc. have any idea what its like playing continuously without rest and what technique is required to play seam bowling in English conditions. They would perhaps played cricket only in their backyard with their neighbours.

In our country, we are obsessed with power. That's why BCCI, instead of being run by successful ex-cricketers are run by politicians and businessmen.

Even the selection committee has also performed badly. Srikkanth has never scored even a 50 in english conditions and we expected him to select the right team for england tour. Now he is putting the blame on cricketers. On top, he is making speculations like an astrologer that India would regain No 1 spot in test cricket within 18 months.

Also, their is no proper plan for important series abroad. BCCI should be run by ex-cricketers and all politicians and businessmen, who are only after the money, must be thrown away.

Only two reasons behind defeat
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Aug 23, 2011 08:47 AM  | Hide replies

1. Absence of a couple of quality bowlers who can trouble batsmen in England pitches. Though England’s batsmen scored runs, it was their bowlers who actually won matches for England.

2. The climate in England. It is not easy for human beings to go to a different region and perform the same way they perform in their region. Actually this very climate condition is the reason for our bowlers failed to live upto the expectation. If Indian bowlers had performed well, England wouldn't have scored runs the way they did in this series.

Commenting on this forum is very easy but for sports persons, performing extremely well everywhere in the world is very tough and therefore, leave them.

100% agreed. That's exactly why in our last England tour of 2007 we were beaten black and blue and lost that series 0-9.... all 3 matches ending in double innings defeats... :)

World cup win means game over
by kunal shah on Aug 23, 2011 08:36 AM

Its high time bcci should change its system, first of all srikanth insisting on chennai players again n again. lots of unfit senior player were sent here, it was better if young players team was sent in england atleast if we loose we would be happy that young guns were there thats why we loose,

Why u are not giving chance to some youngsters like irfan pathan, yusuf pathan in test side also, if they can perform then they can change game of any team.

Cheteshwar pujara will be next series for sure, though he played in 2 test match only but still he is the best test player available in country ( of coz from emergingn player ) no more suresh raina should be picked up, where is kohli?

lots of questions are yet to be answered, i can just wish all the best to all cricket fans in india

once upon a time i was die hard fan ,, now i m fed up of this team

regards,
kunal
