Definitly, India will bounce back, but for that BCCI should organise a home series which will help many of our batsmen to make some hundreds to gain confidence and make records and again sustain for atleast 2-3 years in the team.
Looks like Sir Boycott has been waiting to do this kind of commentary. No team wins all the time nor loses. We need to take it on our stride and look forward to some good cricket from India. Dhoni and team have shown excellent professionalism in this tour.
Between 2008 & 11, England has the highest win rate (2.75 W/L ratio) and leads in number of test wins. India is second in both figures. England played 43 of 45 test against quality oppositions and lost only 3 test series (with a slim margin of one test) all in away grounds. This shows England team, at the moment, is performing better than other national teams. But this W/L is a blip when compared to Australian domination since 2004 till about summer of 08 when they completely outran opposition with W/L ratio of 8.45!India again was second best with a distant 1.8 W/L ratio in the period. Anyone can agree that current Indian team performance is not worthy of world cup champions and test number 1 team. But in the same breath, if history is any guide, it can be safely said that England too is not a quality side able to sit on top of ranking for long
England is just ahead of other contenders and their run can be easliy bulldozed by a resurgent Australian Indian, SA, Srilankan or Pakistan team in their own soil. England team is like a deck of cards, they cannot psychologically bully other teams into submission in hostile grounds, just collapse (the 2005 Ashes triumph was followed by 5-0 white wash in Australia where they lost 1 test by an Innings, another by 10 wickets and third by 370 runs among the defeats). The same Boycott will then be wringing his arms in nervous frustration at the mighty debacle of this same English team in any future away derby.
Sir Geoffrey's comments are not unfair just to the Indian team but also to the English one, who are playing the cricket of their lives. It is true that for various rteasons this Indian team has not been able to give off its best, but it is also true that a major part of this has been because the English team has not allowed them to perform at their best. It is the English team performnces which have led to the Indian team into become a shadow of its real self. See how almost each one of the English players have put up their hands and performed. More importantly they have played as a team. This English team must be playing some of the best cricket any English team has played since the 1960s. Maybe this is what Sir Geoffrey has been unable to fathom. After all he had generally been a part of the English team which used to get regularly thrashed by the Aussies and the West Indians. IN fact under him the English had been beaten by New Zealand
MR. BOYCOTT YOU MIGHT BECAME NO.1 BY THE END OF THIS SERIES, ITS NOT A BIG THING..... IF U REMAIN NO.1 FOR MORE THAN TWO YRS THEN AND ONLY THEN YOU CAN SHIT ALL THIS STUFF..... YOU CAN'T JUST ERASE WHAT THESE GUY'S DID OVER LAST 2-3 YRS ON BASIS OF 1 SERIES PERFORMANCE..... ATLEAST INDIAN TEAM IS LOOSING TO INFORM ENGLAND, U MUST HAV FORGOT HOW BADLY U LOST TO NON TEST PLAYING TEAMS....
LET THEM ALSO ENJOY NO-1 SPOT FOR WHILE. AFTER ALL THEY INVENTED THE CRICKET BUT POOR ENGLISHMEN NEVER WON ANY MAJOR TITLE NEVER BECAME NO-1 ONLY ONE TITLE THEY WON 20-20 IN MORE THEN 100 YEARS OF CRICKET. THEY HAVE VERY GOOD TEAM BUT WILL BE REAL NO-1 WHEN THEY WILL BEAT US IN OUR BACK YARD SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT DONE IN LAST 26 YEARS.
