For next game? Do u think he will be in playing 11? He got 4 innings to prove, but not only he failed but failed without any struggle.

These practice matches are just for practice not to be judged for next match selection..

My 11 playing members for 3rd test..in batting order

Sehwag
Gambhir
Dravid
Sachin
Laxman
Raina
Dhoni
Mishra
Zaheer
P Kumar
Ishant

i think retired hurt does not mean hurting himself but to give chance to lower order batsmen to have a hit...

good to see some resolute batting display by young opener....it's a good sign that he is working hard at this position....let him continue as an opener in remaining matches....opening is a specialised position and he should be groomed at this position...

THIS IS THE 5th chance for mukund so he scored 65 against Northampton. Same for laxman who scored 33.

Srikant moved mukund and laxman down the order so they did not face the new ball.

That does not mean gambhir who got 3rd chance should be failing.

2 test = 4 innings = 4 chances in England.
Dont remember if mukund and laxman also played for the practice match before the test.

It is a good sign, which means Laxman and Mukund can open for 3rd test. And we give time to sehwag to get back in shape by coming down the order. Gambhir? is he ready for comeback.

Mukund is an young guy and has less experience. Let me know how successful are Sehwag, Tendulkar and Gambhir. All the money paid to them for this tour are a waste. Under the banner of experience, they are doing nothing, and now justify a kick on their ass.

Harbhajan can be trained as a batsman and as a part time bowler.
by patriot on Aug 05, 2011 07:11 PM

Harbhajan can be trained as a batsman and as a part time bowler. He has a good hands to eyes co-ordination and this might help him to become a good batsman, and also play fast bowling in the opening slot. His bowling has become pretty ordinary and hence can be used only as a part time bowler and not a regular bowler

Sehwag, Gambhir and Tendulkar can be dropped permanently
by patriot on Aug 05, 2011 07:07 PM  | Hide replies

Sehwag, Gambhir and Tendulkar can be dropped permanently from the Indian team. They may be good on slow pitches only. Munaf Patel might not have success in English conditions and hence can only be used on bouncy pitches. Instead of Amit Mishra, Ravichandran Ashwin could have been given a chance, since Ashwin is also a very good batsman and knows how to stay without throwing the wicket. The successful ones are Ishant, Sreesanth, Praveen Kumar among bowlers and Laxman, Dravid among batsman. Mukund and Yuvraj have had moderate success. Dhoni is not good at anything, just trying to ride on an imaginary luck.

A very good bat, Ashwin!! Good joke. He is a moderately OK batsman averaging. May be he is the best spinner in Tamilnadu but he is yet to make a big impact on the domestic level in first class matches. may be he could be tried as a bowler only, but Mishra did just enough in WI to be retained for now.

Sundeepta, you are a frog in the well. Just because you do not anything more about people of places other than Kolkatta and Mumbai, it does not mean that all that you say are facts. Ashwin has had outstanding success in domestic cricket both with bat and ball. It may just be his lack of experience that he was unable to do well in West Indies. That does not amount to your qualification of Ashwin as a moderate batsman. Please see things in the right perspective.

My dear patriot I may be a frog in well, I agree, but the well is considerably larger than yours. Outstanding success for Ashwin!! I follow the game very closely at the domestic levels especially the First Class games. In last 5 years Ashwin may have been the reason for some success for Tamilnadu'r list A team, and indeed has been a good bowler for tamilnadu. But thats just about it. He is yet to make a big impact in the domestic circuit either as a bat or a bowler. And his averages (35 with bat, 28 with ball) are testimony to that. Whether that alone takes you to the Indian Dressing room or not, is a different topic. Inferior players have made it for sure. But calling him a VERY GOOD batsman, now that is poor knowledge.

Patriot, u seem to be speaking like a frog struck in a borewell. Pls find someone else to defend or extol virtues as a batsman. Mediocrity has no place against good pace attacks on seaming conditions. If u see the performance of Dravid as against even some of the new batsmen, u will understand what it takes to separate the men from the boys.

final test against West Indies could have been won by India
by patriot on Aug 05, 2011 07:00 PM

But Dhoni agreed to a draw and thereby depriving India of a 2-0 win over West Indies. the target was something around 88 from 14 overs remaining on the final day. There is a suspicion that some in the present team are fixing the result and this should be scrutinized.

Gambhir was unhappy earlier that he could not open with Sehwag
by patriot on Aug 05, 2011 06:58 PM  | Hide replies

It is evident that he wants his men with him and is unhappy playing with anyone else as opener. His other opening partners would be either Murali Vijay or Abhinav Mukund. This clearly shows that he is fanatic. Today, we can see that both Gambhir and Sehwag have failed, what does this guy from Hindi belt have to say?

If anything, this shows you are a fanatic!! Not just Gambhir, anybody would like to have Sehwag as his partner. More so Gambhir because the two have played, and have been successful, with each other far more than any other partners. Its natural. What would have been an issue if he had said that he doesn't like playing with Mukund or Vijay
