The in form Mukund in place of dhoni and let gambhir be the captain..I dont see any reason to drop the inform batsman mukund...he recently scored a century
Duncan Fletcher is NOT the right man for India. He's a traditionalist and believes in dictating terms to the lazy, egoistic Indian players. In other words I am not blaming Fletcher BUT I am pointing the mistakes at our own players who think they own the country itself. Fletcher is more suited to places like England, Australia, South Africa etc where the players will actually LISTEN to what he has to offer. Clearly the Indian players' body language since the day Fletcher took over looked BAD, I mean just BAD. They didn't look interested and felt they were supposed to be back in India. So please instead of frustrating us fans ask for a voluntary resignation Duncan. Let these Indian players fend for themselves, bunch of losers.
If we look at Kohli's profile he has an excellent List-A and First class record. But the selectors did not snap him up earlier for Tests. As a result Yuvraj and Raina were pursue.
It would have been ideal if Virat was snapped up to play Tests. His mindset is now firmly in the ODI version and his having a difficult time in Tests.
This has become a common problem with the selectors who have left out Rahane, Sharma, M Tiwari and Pujara. Pujara has been injured but playing domestic cricket for too long can create a problem like Virat has.
If Rahane, Sharma and Tiwari continue in domestic cricket playing weaker attacks we can see a problem of them not being able to adjust in international cricket.
Why has the board forgotten about Badrinath? He can stabilize the middle order in Tests - he is a good Ranji player and needs the chance to prove himself in Tests. He should have been considered instead of Kohli. Politics!
Re: Kohli ? Why not Badrinath to stablize middle order?
by Suraj Kumar on Aug 06, 2011 12:31 PM
Srikkanth would be a better person to answer since he is heading the BCCI.Meanwhile both Kohli and Badrinath are undoubtedly consistent batsmen in ODI.May be BCCI has other plans for Badrinath may be for the WI or Australia Series.
THIS IS THE 5th chance for mukund so he scored 65 against Northampton. Same for laxman who scored 33.
Srikant moved mukund and laxman down the order so they did not face the new ball.
That does not mean gambhir who got 3rd chance should be failing.
2 test = 4 innings = 4 chances in England. Dont remember if mukund and laxman also played for the practice match before the test.
It is a good sign, which means Laxman and Mukund can open for 3rd test. And we give time to sehwag to get back in shape by coming down the order. Gambhir? is he ready for comeback.

because west indies pitch was very tpugh to bat on,so indian batsmens failed to bat in windies, but here in england all players are playing to their potential but our boy kohli will sure rock

kohli has just one debut series, and not that he exactly failed there. besides, if people were to be dropped just after 1 series, no player would be able to play.

Kohli in the Windies played 3 tests, 5 innings with 76 runs at average of 15.20
That would qualify as an "exactly failed" in most books. Even in yours in case of Mumbai/Marathi players.
Re: Re: Re: Wonder why Kohli was not ready from Windies challenge

But can it take away from the fact that he has only played one debut series??! Your argument doesn't have much logic. If people were to be dropped after one failed series then the entire team changes every few weaks.
and what about mumbai/marathi!? are you here for just petty regionalism, like your name sounds like?

No - but how long should players like Rahane who are older and have a better record than your boy Kohli sit on sidelines while he gets "chances" is the question. Surely fairness applies to them to even if they are Marathi.
Yes I am a petty regionalist who supports Marathis and proud of it. So what? Like you are any different....

Oh - absolutely Rohit "Sharma" who also has an inferior record to Rahane in first class cricket. merit yeah!
In first class cricket Rohit Sharma 43 matches 60.87 average with 10 hundreds
Rahane 48 matches 67.72 average with 17 hundreds.
Your definition of merit is just slightly better than your definition of "exactly failed".

selection should be on merit whether there are 11 from north, or south or east or west.
as for me, my first choice in tests for now would be rohit sharma.
your mentality is very unhealthy as it does not seek selection on merit , anyway there have been far more marathis than other communities who have represented indian cricket, so i guess you have marathi lobby at work there already.

By the same stretch of imagination our "god" sachin should've been dropped from all formats long time ago, by what your name sounds like you won't say a word against him.
either way, i personally am in support of sachin and you can often see me taking up for him because i'm not petty like you

Oh I could care less about Sachin - he is a big boy and can take care of himself. Never was much of a Sachin fan. My favs are Gavaskar and Laxman.
And yes I am Marathi and petty and regionalistic and parochial and proud of it. So what?
