Play only with Bangledesh
by Jasad Dusty on Aug 04, 2011 02:24 PM

India should continue playing with Bangledesh and Zimbawe and keep on creating records. Totally and forever avoid playing with countries like England, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, etc.

Can't write them off, yet.
by girish bayes on Aug 04, 2011 02:19 PM

So, P.Ojha's in for the injured Bhajji. Does it mean Amit Mishra would continue to warm the bench ? I thought the world knew England have never played quality legspin with confidence and wonder why can't we try Mishra ? Ojha is again an off spinner - they (the English) have played off spin well - always, so don't see any point.
Batting ? well its just a matter of time. You'll all see them firing, for sure. Its been our strength, always, and shall remain so. The question is a mix of the bowlers to be played.
Hope Mr.Fletcher remembers Amit Mishra while calling the final XI for the 3rd test !

He should make a difference, a huge difference.

And would someone whisper to Dhoni about having the traditional third man when seamers are on. An a long leg too could come in handy.

I have a strong feeling that same India team with injuries around is going to win next two tests. we have to have patience.

NO KAPIL and NO EVEN ONE MONOJ PRAVAKAR.. AT LAST PARVEEN? CRAZY?
by subrata banerjee on Aug 04, 2011 01:58 PM

The present Indian team is like old time indian cricket team (say from 1966 till the entry of excellent medium pacers like KAPIL AND MONOJ PROVAKAR.That was golden time of Indian pace attack. There after Jagvale Srinath came with strong pace but without accuracy of Kapil or Monoj. Now see the name of pacers of Indian team after Srinath's era:- Zahir (a little bit manageable), sharma, srisanth, pravin kumar(is he spinner or medium pace bowler? getting wickets you claim? ha ha... Sourav too got 100 test wickets as so called medium pacer). With this Indian bowling attack (now world's best wrist spinner Harbhajan singh is out of the team)our mad and most inefficient captain Dhone hopes to win remaining two tests (that means his boowlers will make england all out in four innings). I hope and shall not wonder if it comes true that Dhone will open the ball in the test match as fast bowler keeping Rahul behind the wicket to take a snick of Dhone's huge spell of pace with great outswing. Returning India this Dhone will get BHARAT RATNA, for excellent performance as pace bowler.

No doubt Indian players played like school players. Nobody was looking in confidence including Dravid & Sachin. It was a really poor performance because of overconfidence.

NOTHING DRASTICALLY WRONG WITH INDIAN TEAM!
by Kabeer on Aug 04, 2011 01:34 PM  | Hide replies

There is nothing drastically wrong with this Indian team!

Unfortunately, Indians, including the so called educated class, either get their feet off the ground when the going is good or submerge to abysmal depths when the going is not so good.

Indian public and its national characteristic is losing objectivity.

Unlike its celebrated batsmen who cornered the glory, the Indian turnaround in test cricket is mostly because of Zaheer Khan.

The problem with the Indian team is it has 4 celebrated batsmen in Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar and VVS. All these 4 need not click. Even 50% ie.even if 2 click you wont find the gap in batting.

BUt that is not the same with bowling. you have got only Zaheer Khan and for whatever reason he fails or injures the gap is glaring. Like all Indian spinners roles when they travel overseas, Harbhajans role is reduced to a stock bowler i.e. containing the batsmen, than as a strike bowler i.e. taking wickets.

So when Zaheer fails or injures himself the gap shows off.

Unfortunately, India came without its celebrated opener Sehwag who would have softened the seam bowling. Adde to it the other opener Gambhir got injured too. That left Dravid opening the innings and VVS facing the second ball of the innings when Mukund got out. There both Dravid and VVS have done remarkably well under the circumstances. For Tendulkar it is only a single innings to find his runs.

The batting order got jeopardised which gets rectified with Viru coming.

Well said Kabeera! There have also been a few problems with team selection. I think Wasim Jaffer should have been in the team instead of Mukund...he's too raw to be playing in such testing conditions. Also Parthiv should have gone to England instead of Saha. He would have filled the slot for the opener which was desperately required after gambhir got injured especially after his good show in WI recently. I don't buy Dhoni's arguement of too much cricket. Most of these guys didn't go to WI and had sufficient time to rest & recover. All said and done, I think India will bounce back from here & don't forget, Englad are coming to India later in the year. So we have an opportunity for REVENGE.

BCCI should take care of Indian cricket and not over indulge in money spinning.

I wonder a Sachin Tendulkar who refuses to play 20-20 to represent India but doesnt hesitate to captain Mumbai Indians and play hectic schedule of IPL.

At the same time, Viru and some others who got injured during the world cup keep playing IPL and be unfit to play for the nation during overseas tours.

BCCI should put a cap of 20-20 and ODIs that each player can play. In that way, you wont tire your players over long ODI schedules just to make money.

If you watch at the same time, many Australian stars like Ponting and many English players do not play full IPL tournament, even if they choose to play.

It is BCCIs fault of allowing this kind of nonsense at the prestige of the national team overseas tours.

by Rahul Ekbote on Aug 04, 2011 01:23 PM

Those clouds make more noise who dont pour,so england will give sure whitewash 4-0,the aussies waiting to give whitewash, these so called fit playing in ipl with 100 cent suddenly start crying against too much cricket, why not they complain ipl and BCCI and ICC for too mush cricket, give them compulsory rest 1 month each every 3 months, selectors and planners of ICC should be cut their salaries for such hectic ipl and international series, and Harbhajan should be rested till he finds turn his balls,Dhoni and sachin must be rested for non performance and lossing magic touch of batting
