The problem was of losing both regular openers at the same time
by Nikhil Shah on Aug 24, 2011 11:47 PM

The aftermath of this series boils down to one thing. Over the past 7 tests or 14 innings they had the right and best options in the WI tour of Mukund and Vijay.

Should they have continued to tour England?

In the absence of both Shewag and Gambhir the pressure to get a good start was difficult. So for the England tour should the selectors go with a pair which has been playing cricket but not as established as Gambhir and Sehwag?

This resulted in India getting poor starts for the last 14 Test innings. What was the solution then?

It would have been better to not rest or exclude both the openers at the same time. Shewag was injured but that was not avoidable. Missing both regular openers in WI was a problem. The Test opening aspect is the most difficult job overseas and Mukund/Vijay had difficult time surviving.

Murali Vijay had bailed Gambhir out in India, but it is not possible to bail both out at the same time.

The inclusion of Ishant and Gambhir has made a big difference to the Indian side over the last 2 years. We hope Varun Aaron and Rahane can add to this difference.

Though Ishant has slowed down, Varun will make a similar impact early. If he can decide to focus more high nutrition diet and a very strict fitness regimen along with playing lesser cricket than needed.

Varun Aaron in this short List-A career has an eco rate of 4.6, which makes him a legitimate contender with his pace to survive the Indian team.

IPL-main problem
by jatin on Aug 06, 2011 12:16 AM

Why dont anybody blames IPL. It is root cause of all problems.See the immediate matches after ipl in last 3-4 years and u will see that india has struggled immediately after ipl.If this year ipl had not been after world cup,we may not have won world cup.See the last 20-20 world cup,we lost in early round because it was immediately after IPL.It was different this year as IPL was after world cup.If IPl had been before world cup,we have definitely not won world cup.Nobody critisizes IPl because everybody makes money like gavaskar ,shastri, other commentators, all cricketers except kapil dev who recently critisized ipl.Common man 14 matches for every team, give a break. Also our indian public is so fool that it dances to the fours and sixes although they dont know which team they want to support like punjab or delhi. So public, hate IPl and dont watch it and u will see it will vanish some years after.

BCCI
by Sabyasachi Pradhan on Aug 04, 2011 07:57 AM

first kicked out these useless fellows from BCCI.All the members whether it is president or secretary starting from sarad power to sasank manohar have neither have any cricket background nor have any idea of ABCD about cricket. These bloody useless fellows are just want to enjoy power and money. They don't want any right people to come to the governing body.We can take the recent example of poor Dillip Vengsarkar who was defeated by another political useless fellow like deshmukh. It is the BCCI not the team India has to be blame for what is happening in England tour.

The BCCI ned not worry....
by Junior Shelly on Aug 04, 2011 12:03 AM  | Hide replies

The so-called Indian cricket fans have very short memory spans, and they will forget and forgive any humiliation. The wait is for a century by the 'Little Master', or a win against a minnow. Once again, the fans would go gaga in blogs, forums and grounds, the gate collections would soar, media right rates would sky-rocket, and the players would make millions through ads....
THAN WHY ALL THIS FUSS???!!
It is India and it is cricket.... As they say.."It happens only in India"
