Dhoni was completely wrong...
by Surya Prakash on Aug 02, 2011 11:03 AM

On day 3, the Indian bowling was massacred by the English batsman including their low order batsman scoring 417 runs in a single day !!!. Their WK Matt Prior & Broad make a joke of our bowling. On day 4 Bresman comes our rubbing salt into our injury scoring at will and almost a century. Our media starts writing that now the pitch is batting friendly. Now the Indian innings start and we fall like 9 pins including the 3 batting greats. 3 batsman Mukund, Raina & Yuvraj cannot play the shortball and batting greats like Sachin, VVS cannot judge Inswingers. I wonder how the English batsman raised the bar few thousand feet and we lowered our bar few thousand feet. An amazing turnaround to our Cricketers becoming ZEROES from HEROES. Winning & Losing is a part of sport and life. But what is shocking is the way, Indians have been beaten to pulp. I wonder what was Sachin's contribution when Dhoni ran out of ideas when our bowlers were belted on Day 4. Dhoni's luck has run out. He was never good with the bat and now he will have a hard time. The only one who can save India is SEHWAG if he can get into form. Otherwise let us be ready for a 4-0 drubbing. The English have really improved a lot and are clearly the World no.1. Imagine their bowlers toying with our bowling and straightway come back and wreck our strong batting line-up in 2 hours. They are in the best form of their life and we are left shell shocked and devastated.

Indian mentality always been defensive for false praise.
by Rahul Ekbote on Aug 02, 2011 11:02 AM

Idiots only,

Dhoni shud resign as a player, casptain then,
Record ratna should honourably retire and use his political contacts to get bharat ratna and use media to market his records of maximum indian defeats, and BCCI must be punished with prgramme planning selectors,as Zaheer, sachin,Sehwag always giving 100 fitness for their owner ,maliks like ambani,Mallya, but due to this we on ordinary ballers feeling like tigers,BCCI must keep suffccient gaps and rest before important tours and our so called bharat ratnas must retire from team, because their selfishness giving india bad name ,in terms of rankings and defeat, foreigners are cunning enough to praise our so called bharat ratna, then show performance on ground winnings, hepl all

Moral certitude
by bluesshaman on Aug 02, 2011 10:10 AM

Dhoni's decision was not unilateral. If you want to blame him, then blame the entire Indian team because it was a collective decision. I, for one, back him on this issue. India proved themselves a champion team. People say the Indian team whines about umpiring decision, what do they have to say about this gesture? We must NOT decide something depending on our assumption of how England or any other team would have decided. We must do what feels right to us. Which is what the Indian team did. All credit to them for setting a high moral standard. They're a bunch of fighters, and honorable. Sure, they're down now but they'll pick themselves up soon enough. This is their first real obstacle. And cut them some slack. A lot of young players are finding out what the real stakes are. Even if they lose the number 1 ranking, I back them to show their mettle and get back there soon. You gotta love these guys. They always come back stronger. Even if they lose in England, they'll learn from it and improve.

It doesnt matter
by ILoveMy India on Aug 02, 2011 10:08 AM

At time of this incident England was in much stronger position and as INDIA played recalling of Bell didnt impacted the game.

So it was a better decision coz in any way INDIA was going to loose, now atleast coz of this incident INDIA and Dhoni will be remembered for long....

Dhoni was right
by Bhoot Pret on Aug 02, 2011 09:44 AM

I suspect not many would agree with me, but what Dhoni did was right. Imagine, 5 years from now. Nobody would remember the lost test match, but they'll always remember the spirit in which the Indian team played.

They didn't want cheap wickets, they wanted to earn them. We all know Australia's was a great team, that they won World Cups in a row, were in Number one position for a long time, BUT we also know that they are a bunch of hooligans. Their list of hooliganism is long. Do we want that title, is the question...

Completely wrong

Just imagine if Sachin tendulkar was in bell's position and at 99*, Would strauss had done the same thing ?? Ofcourse not....Then Why the hell Dhoni wants to show his heroism on such emotional non-sense rather than scoring hard in the tests and making india win ? Dhoni has scored only 49 runs in 2 matches...England's bowler Stuart broad has batted much better at 182 runs taken 15 wkts in 2 matches..It would be better to play a stuart broad type in indian team than dhoni..

Forget Sachin being on 99*, even if a Namibia or UAE team member was playing for a losing cause no one shows this pseudo heroism. I guess he got confused when the crowd booed him and succumbed to this decision.

@Abhishek: No, that is NOT what i mean. Sportsmanship in this case it was uncalled for..... Cricket is to be played by rules firstly. Tomorrow if someone is LBW out, our generous Dhoni will call him back to show "generosity". If he decides whether to call back the batsman even when out, why do we need umpires, referees, etc? Dhoni should have done his job properly. There was no need to interfere in this case.
