Bell Episode
by Bhaskar Shrinivasan on Aug 04, 2011 11:05 AM

Continuing with my earlier observation on this subject, it strikes me that the central message of the Mahabharata is the "Gita Upadesh" by Krishna to Arjuna where Arjuna is exhorted by Sri Krishna to follow his assigned Dharma and not vacillate on the battlefield. The primary Dharma of team India is to go out and Win the game. Any decision that works at variance with this objective is wrong. It would appear that the lesson of the Gita has not been imbibed by our cricketers. Further more, Duncan Fletcher is only Coach of the Indian team as far as playing the game is concerned. He has no business to participate in the discussion as he did. If he had to play a role the more befitting one would have been to play one similar to what Lord Krishna played in Kurukshetra.

Reinstatement of Ian Bell by Indian Team
by Bhaskar Shrinivasan on Aug 04, 2011 10:46 AM

My considered view is that when the team is playing the country, it should always be country first. These players are selected to uphold the pride of the nation and the measure is only "victory" or "defeat". that is the clear mandate given by the BCCI on behalf of the nation. If it was a private match Dhoni and team could have abrogated the right of recall with a clear conscience. In a parallel situation, just imagine the "soldier" at the border failing to "kill" the aggressor's Jawan saying that the "Lord" made everyone to live a full life and that he had no right to take away the life of a soldier belonging to an enemy country !! When the law stipulates that Bell is out, in the first place Strauss Co. have no business to plead his case and Dhoni and team have no business to reverse the umpire's decision. In my view, Ravi Shastry was absolutely right. It is time DHONI is removed as Capt. of the the Team. He has not given due respect and weightage to the invitation of the Indian High Commission for the felicitation function and also in the past has failed to attend the award function at Rashtrapati havan. Where did the Spirit of the Nation and respect for it go then?

Dhoni needs to start scoring
by Patriot on Aug 04, 2011 02:27 AM

While he has done exceptionaly done well as captain, the team is only as good as the Captain plays. Dhoni should improve his oversees Test & batting record.

At 6 or 7 down, we would expect someone to hang on and score 60 odd runs especially when the top order fails and he has not done that in both West indies and in England.

A NEW PEGEON TO FLY!
by MIHIR TRIVEDI on Aug 02, 2011 11:05 AM

No need to praise Dhoni. The decision was taken just because of fear of British media/spectators backlash.Knowing very well that the Indian team was going to stay in England for nearly a month,Dhoni and the Indian team was not ready to take any chances. They knew it very well that they are not going to win this match.and if they called back IAN BELL then they would certainly be praised for that. That means they were aware that hey had nothing to loose in calling Bell back instead they would get some sympathy for the lost match.

What fair play man?

Look back into the history,we have been ruled by the Mughals, the british and many more because of all these.

The world "LION" and "TIGER" for the Indian team suits only in writing.Have you ever seen Indian team smashing any other team who play cricket?Even with Kenya they fight to survive.
When it comes to prove something we get yourself a pigeon to fly and say "PEACE".

americans developed PRESIDENTIAL FORM of government TO MOVE AWAY from parliamentary system of ANGREZ which HAS given cricket selection politics in India.
angrez made kickback brokers of sonia-gandhi dynasty from nehru onwards and same for jinnah and many more

england batting was using INDIAN PACE IN THEIR FAVOR. OFCOURSE lbws were not allowed. Umpire had to prove he is Ghora supremist.

england was playing T20 by using indian pace TO HIT STOKES.
INFACT, if india were all BEST spin OF KUMBLE ORDER, england would have not hit more than 300.

It is all over...

England will declare with a target of 450 . I am shocked that we have conceded 420 runs on 1 day. Why the hell Dhoni did not employ a defensive field is hard to fathom. We will be bowled out for less than 200. Dont expect Dravid & VVS to stick a partnership again. Are they only supposed to save us ? Sachin as usual will not bat under pressure, Dhoni has no technique, Raina & Yuvraj are aar yaa paar, others have forgotten batting. So it is curtains for India. No need to even sell tickets for tomorrow. Sachin & Dhoni can rehearse for another advertisement tomorrow using the rest day. Now that Dhoni gifted a faboulous life to Bell, a new ad with Dhoni capitalising on the "Spirit of the game" will come up shortly. Who cares if we lose, we anyhow did not deserve to be No.1. We are only bothered about 100th century of Sachin even if we lose..We just dont deserve to win or draw this test.

Indian public has been fooled for long, but I can see that there is a change coming up
