IPL IPL
by Prashanth DN on Apr 26, 2011 07:23 PM

one thing is, for sure, happening.. all the players across the world are showing more interest to play in IPL than in any other tournament - be it the pride of their country or anything. This is bcoz IPL is the richest tournament now (after CLT) and money is what matters to most of the people..

Country First?
by Jason Bourne on Apr 26, 2011 05:35 PM

Come on guys. These guys are not fighting in an army trying to defend the country. A cricket match for BCCI/CA or any other club (not country) is same as IPL.

More over, it is their profession, they get 10-15 years to make some money. They should do whatever helps them in their lives. I am sure if their country is in danger and they need to go join army, they will consider that a higher duty. Dont make organizations like WICB or PCB equivalent to your country.

Clear example, if I am a player in Pakistan, why would I ever want to even deal with idiots in PCB. All of them are corrupt and not one of them has any interest in helping the country's team.

IPL is good
by Delhi City on Apr 26, 2011 04:19 PM  | Hide replies

platform for youngster but not good for those greedy players like Polard, Gayle, Malinga, Gilchrist etc. who are not interested in their national duties, show themselves unfit or retired, but ready to sold in IPL for making money. Those selfish players should not be selected in their national side, whatever they are in the game...

Dude, WI is not a country, it is just a group of islands. There is no national duty.

Secondly, Fast bowlers like Malinga are not good for tests. He is injury prone. Flintoff had to retire after 4 surgeries.
On subcontinent tracks, the boards dont event respect fast bowlers, they are used to just take the shine off the ball for spinners. Why should he waste his time in tests?
Only tournaments that make a difference are world cups. As a selector, they are supposed to get the best team possible for their national side. Why should they drop Malinga for a worldcup side, if he is willing to play.
