but without mahela kochi will it difficult to perform, so sourav is a good replacement
the big question is what does it mean to play for the country. Just because 2 boards decided that if we play against each other then we can both make money, does it mean you are representing the country. I dont think so. Playing cricket for counrty is not like representing the country in olympics.

But IOC doesnt keep organising events every other week to make money. They have 4 year schedule which they follow

Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it

I am surprised to read that players have to take NOC from franchise in order to leave club and jrepresent their country. I think the first priority should always be country. And whenever anyone is selected to represent the country then they should be voluntarily told to join the country by the franchises. There is no greater pride than representing your country in any discipline (like sports, politics, academics etc.). That way rules of football are much clear. Clubs do not stop anyone from playing/representng their country. I feel IPL committe should learn something from them and change the rule immidiately. Just as a formality, the players can send one letter of intimation. Thats all.

It is other way around actually, board gives an NOC for participation in IPL and they can revoke it anytime. Also as far as leaving early it is professional enough to inform the franchise about their plan of returning for national call. Dont think anything wrong in it.

See National duty is first but when someone is paying money and you promised to spend time with them but want to leave early, you have to permission from them even it is for national. If franchise give NOC with pay, then it is good and understanding franchise. If they fight with player not to leave then they are bad. but if they deduct money and give NOC it is OK and player also has to give some money back to them as they are not going to give it back and the bench player which francise pay without using them will be saved.

You are right Mr Sanjay, I am agree with you... and I think IPL is a huge platform for youngster but not good for those greedy players like Polard, Gayle, Malinga, Gilchrist etc. who are not interested in their national duties, show themselves unfit or retired, but ready to sold in IPL for making money. Those selfish players should not be selected in their national side, whatever they are in the game...

can someone explain what is the concept of "national pride" ? the concept of national pride itself is very diluted in todays age and time of the globalization . Is it only cricketers who have the liability of national pride ? if we are so worried abt national pride, all of us should quit working for MNCs and join India govt organizations for " national pride". Just like regular professionals can choose to work in MNCs for highers salaries neglecting " national pride" , professional cricketers should also have the right to work for lucrative paymasters. Why is the concept of " national pride" being confused ?

If its a question of national pride, why didnt they say this to the franchises before they will not be unavailable ? SL board said their players will be available and based on that, franchises selected Sanga and Mahela as captains. Now they are doing u turn. Its nothing other than money and being unethical. Dont be foolish and think about country in this issue.

How do you know that they didn't say to their franchises. Even franchises should be known their cricketing calander, which player will be available for them or not before selecting them as a captain or as a player... So you better don't talk like a Idiot...

There is no National Pride involved in it.. its purely an business decision taken by all the parties including SL Board, BCCI, Team Owners and so called selfish players < Poor Guys, trying to earn some Extra money>.
