Viru learnt to convert his potential into performances.
By this time he should have had atleast 30 centuries in tests and an equal number in ODIs. But he has only 22 in tests and 14 in ODIs. This situation has arisen not because he lacks talent or stamina, but because of his attitude. No, certainly I do not want Sehwag to focus on personal landmarks at the cost of his team, whether he is playing for India or in IPL.
But he cannot go on saying that he plays only the way he does and that he will hit out or get out. I liked his attitude when he stated after his knock of 175 against Bangladesh in the recent ODIWC 2011 that henceforth he will play longer innings.
It is one thing to entertain the crowd by making breezy 30's but it is another to construct a labourious innings at a painful strike rate of below 50%.
We cricket fans would love to see Sehwag put his head down and play shots all around the wicket, but strictly on the merits of each ball and not be carried away by sudden rush of blood as he has done already twice or thrice in the current IPL. More so when he is the captain. We want DD to at least reach the finals this time.
one would love to see a battle of sixes between these two,one is nawab of najafgarh and the other a gr8 future for Team India. The fans of cricket would sure like to see a power display with the bat by both of them and let the better side win on the day.
