the days are not too far, this is just the begining.. this game only knows money, in the coming years will see some of the oneday & test series cancelled bcos players will not be available to play for the national teams giving some excuses. C gayle, srilankan players issue, this are just minor shocks.. big is yet to follow

Ignore him
by shyamsundar on Apr 21, 2011 11:49 AM

I request the WICB to ignore Gayle in future for representing the board and try for a good replacement. That is how they should treat him. He is not the only player in the islands. Let him play for money and not for his country. These selfish cricketers should be banned from playing international cricket.

There is no nation to represent and no patriotic fervour to spoil the already spoilt game 'cricket'.IPL looks like street cricket played glamourously for money with hoars dancing and crowd whistling for nothing. The entire set up looks awkward ,ugly ,insane and almost vulgar. But it suits the people well and the English would be feeling they got rid of a game invented and repented later as it was wasting a lot of their precious time and some crazy nations have taken over their leftovers.

IPL is spoiling international cricket
by B M on Apr 21, 2011 08:04 AM

Chris Gayle prefers playing IPL to his national team.

Malinga is happily playing in IPL (without any discomfort) after declaring himself unfit to play for Sri Lanka against England.

Look how money is spoiling the cricketers in countries where players are not played all that handsomely to play for their national team!

it was ruled by icc that all respective boards opinion hv to b taken cognisance of. icl was banned for this only. now if ipl does the same, then ban ipl. noone is above country.

Business Vs Individual
by Kalyan Raman on Apr 21, 2011 04:45 AM  | Hide replies

All businesses want to make money. The cricket boards and the ICC will even fix the format of the whole world cup to ensure India/Pakistan stay longer for ratings and tourism. However they all complain foul and point to country loyalty if an individual wants to make money. If the WICB make enough money to pay its cricketers properly, why would Gayle seek other sources?

Too bad WICB
by Jay on Apr 20, 2011 11:41 PM  | Hide replies

The WICB are the biggest hypocrites in the cricket world. First they axe Gayle, Chanderpaul, and Sarwan. Subsequently they expect Gayle to lick their feet. What nonsense ? Chris made the right choice by electing to represent the RCB club. He knows he has a better shot at winning something for a change. The WICB can keep their losing ways with a bunch of goofy players. Chris welcome to the IPL; RCB need you desperately.

hey , They didn't"axe" Gayle . The report clearly says that WICB didn't pick him for the first two matches because he said he was in rehabilitation after an injury . They wanted to assess him and pick him if fit for the 3rd game onwards .
