by sumit Naik on Apr 18, 2011 12:07 AM

Lol they can think of playing IPL and skip tours...wonderful....cricket has just become a money making business for all cricketers..especially india...i dont see anyone playing for the country...if you wanted to rest why not take a break now and show your skills abroad but dhoni knows it very well...because of pawar's favors india managed to get this world cup but how wil they live up to the expectations by skiping tours..lol...very smart move BCCI....Good going keep up the good work.

Scrap IPL
by Syz on Apr 17, 2011 11:58 PM  | Hide replies

It is better to scrap IPL and all T20s. What good does that tuornament bring to Indian cricket? IPL is an insult to the glorious game of cricket. India should only concentrate fully on series winning against England, more importantly Australia. At this moment I do not see that is going to happen; at least no way of winning test series against Australia in their country.

at some point its just a game.. soccer(football), basketball etc face the same issue..
You shouldnt forget that its mainly about money.. (and small series dont matter)..
Besides we should have closed Test and 50-50 long long back..
Only cricketers and oldies support it..

Indian unearthed lots of talent due to the IPL...only things like IPL can make cricket international and players have their choices...if they take rest and someone performs exceptionally then their loss!

It makes cricket as a viable career option for over 200 Indian players instead of just 15 earlier.

This is nonsense. How can you select a player for test series by looking at his performance at IPL or T20? You have to look at his performance in equal games. How many of these players selected from IPL will survive the grueling series against Australia is to be seen.

Well said. did any one hear of Valtaty & Iqbal Abdullah before IPL4. these guys may be the star of tomorrow. Playing the IPL is better than going on useless tours to W.Indies, B'desh & Zimbawe.

Better skip the series!!
by R Rajkumar on Apr 17, 2011 11:22 PM  | Hide replies

West Indian team is like a club team.. BCCI should not have done this in the first place itself..

Corrupt Sharad pawar might have thought of visiting West Indies along with his Family and Political goons with some VIP treatment..

India can test their bench strength..

Better scrap IPL. What good does this IPL bring to Indian cricket? If you call that is cricket, that will be insult to the game.

If you have to choose between a masala b'wood movie and an arty Shyam benegal film, what will the janta go for. The same logic applies to IPL. BCCI have done something that other cricketing nations couldn't think off. Stop bad mouthing IPL and stop watching it if you don't like it. IPL is here to stay.

West Indies team is like a club team now!!!
by R Rajkumar on Apr 17, 2011 11:19 PM

Ideally BCCI should not have looked at such a series until windies keep their house in order..

It is better for senior players to rest and re energize before playing against England and Australia as they are still very tough side to beat and those are tough cnditions..

India, if chosen propely can test their bench strength..

Expected - IPL over international tour
by Lord Prosperity on Apr 17, 2011 10:17 PM  | Hide replies

So if we lose all the series in WI, who is responsible? BCCI for the schedule or the players for choosing IPL over WI tour or both? India's Test and ODI ranking at stake here and no one cares much about it as there is no money in this.

Stop thinking like a loser. Indian bench strength is too good for the W'Indies. I would instead welcome the opportunity to try the bench strength. In the distant future I see India having enough talent to have 2 int'l cricket teams touring simultaneously

West Indies Tour
by S Shrikanth on Apr 17, 2011 10:09 PM  | Hide replies

This is the tour where Indian Cricketer are most scared to face. They remember their 4-1 crushing in 2006 and then the most ignominious first round exit in 2007 WC.

So, all senior players would like to keep safe their personal records.

IPL is more interesting than the intrnl matches since we can see more talented players (indian youngsters). So, nothing wrong in seniors skipping the WI tour. Atleast, many promising youngsters will get oppurtunities.

It does not matter what is interesting to watch. Winning test series against Australia in their soil is more important to me in order to be called a true test champion team (even considering the fact that India is #1 test playing country. They have not yet won a test series against Australia in their own country.)

Playing in the country is important, not playing for the country for them.

West Indies falls in Eastern Time Zone,So TRP of these matches will very poor. Therefore commercially worst for the consumer companies whom the cricketers endorse.

BCCI will send the team anywhere if money comes in
by A Rajendran on Apr 17, 2011 09:08 PM  | Hide replies

BCCI is dumb enough to play anywhere if sufficient money is involved. If somebody were to promise sizeable $$ for "snow cricket" involving playing in Siberia in winter or some other equally stupid idea, BCCI will fall for it.

So, what is your problem? What is wrong with money, when so many fans are enjoying? It is btter than money by corruption.

It is the players who have it tough. Any sane manager will see to it that his team gets sufficient rest to avoid burnout.

My problem is that I like my team to be well rested and who will perform at their peak and not a bunch of jaded individuals going through the motions of playing.
