Not a huge money at all to BCCI. Total Prize money 175000 75000 USD = 225000 USD * 45 (1 USD = 45 INR)= 1 Crore. This is the prize money given by BCCI to each player of World cup squad. However its good to be on the top of the table.
I am wondering why India has not replaced Australia as the number 1 one day team. I thought that we should be no. 1 after the WC. Aussies have been behaving and playing like sissies offlate and I see no reason that they should be no. 1

India now ranks no 1 in ODI, but the cut-off date for ranking for financial year ending was before WC final. cut-off date was 31 march, but WC final was on Apr 02. so India missed the chance just by few days.

Both of you are completely wrong , go and check the official ratings from ICC. Winning WC does not add much , it is the consistency that is reflected in rankings , same as with India 1 in Tests. Mr Raj s behaviour does not dictate rankings performance does,by the way some Indians are worse than Aus ( Sardar ,Sree, Kohli etc)
In the latest issue of India Today, the editor Aroon Purie recounts the world cup victory. He recounts some god forsaken 175* of Kapil Dev in 1983, Dhoni’s innings in the finals as great exploits. Off course God appeared for non cricketing reasons ” Riding the devotees” in victory lap.
For his lack of Cricket understanding do we name Mr Purie as Ignoramus or burn the copies of India today ? Thats a big question

Either you do not know cricket - or you do not know History - or both. Kapil's 175no was not God forsaken - it was and is probably one of the greatest One day innings played by anyone. Arun Poorie got it spot on. He was probably there in that scenic ground in Tunbridge Wells when Kapil took India from 17 for 5 to a very respectable 265 odd against Zimbabwe. Criticism is fine - but you need to know matters before criticizing people.

Absolutely right that inn from Kapil is the most treasured one and is still talked about. If Kapil had not played that 175 India would not have won the WC and perhaps odi cricket in india would not have taken up so much

Very well said...everybody just expects cricketers, ambanis, tata, amitabh bachan, srk etc... to do something for anything that happens. What can you do should be the question instead of just passing the buck.

you are wrong mate.. there is nothing wrong to expect public personality, or celebrity to set a example for society. after all they are famous because of people support. They should be role model for other who cherish/support for their work.
these days many indian cricketers earn 100-500crores every year. helping another sportsperson by another sportperson is not too much to expect in India. Cricket is highly overrated. You don't have to pay 100crores for person for playing 200 days cricket.
those 1lakh may be 10 sec ad earning from those cricketer. after all public indirectly pay for the product who use cricket for brand

Rajendra Pal, other sports is lagging behind because of cricket and crazy indian fan. because of attitude like you, the difference between rich and poor is so high in indian. no wonder why 40% of indian people still struggling to single meal in a day.
the country like aus where i live even cleaner have 10 times better life style than half of inidan population.
can't help for the population madly obsessed with 3 things in life- politics, cricket and film.
