sachin vs dhoni
by ASHISH KUMAR on Apr 13, 2011 01:42 PM

diffrent benchmark for sachin/dhoni-

Sachin- if he fails in one out of 2 inning, it is refered out of form
Dhoni- if he clicks in one out of 40 matches, it is refered as - In form.

That sums up the class difference between two.

SRT is legend and will remain so.
However, time has come where he should pass on the baton to youngsters like what he did with MoM award.

Otherwise he would be counted in line with kapil and gavaskar who played just to break and make more records.

Age never comes to a consideration as long as u r playing ur best and it should not be. Anybody have to prove and earn their place to replace Sachin, the great. Form and fitness would decide the retirement factor and not age...in sports. Still he is the top run getter for India, and second best overall, in the world cup. Anymore doubts?

why did Kumble retire? why did imran khan, wasim akram or even murlidharan, Warne retire? They were very best when they retired.
Sachin is now only playing to make more records and for his commercial gains and nothing else.

Govt employees have to retire when they reach an age. They do not understand that age is just a number, it is just performance that matters. It is not easy to play cricket (forget international cricket, money and money) for so long unless there is the passion for the game and Sachin is unstoppable in this aspect. Age related discrimination has no place in cricket.

@Ashish Kuamr & @Sameer:
Let me add further to my earlier comments regarding my services in govt. in some capacity, I do like Cricket very much. However, I have serious problem with commercialization of the game. It is the only game in the world wherein one company can sell its product for the whole day as after every six ball, there is a break where they come before you with an advt.

I have been a national player of hockey, football and boxing. In a way i represent their voices and pains because in general, the public also doesn't give them due credit to their efforts even after bringing accolades to the country. Only a cricketer is given crores and crores in money as award (besides his heavy match fee) and above all is given tax free options to secure a Ferrari car or for the money he gets out of these awards.
A sportsman in this country other than that of Cricket, has gone into deep lack of self-confidence. Only 8 countries play cricket seriously and in India, there is so much hysteria about it. this game is not at all talked about abroad (USA). Why don't we put in our moral efforts to encourage athletes like new generation PT Usha sort of girls and boys to improve our olympics tally.
There is a deliberate effort by corporates to produce persons like Sachin & Dhoni who then become their face to sell their products.
Cricket is a very good and interesting game but it has been hijacked by corporates and politicians of india (cricket boards are gov

No one hates SRT. However, people do feel time has come very in he should pass on the baton to younger generation just like what he has done with his Man of the Match prize to this younger man.

Generations will remember him if he retires with full grace otherwise he would be remembered along with Gavaskar & Kapil who at the fag end of their career played just to break and make more records.

First of all reveal your identity and have courage to write and comment with your name rather than writing with disguise names.

I may be wrong in assessing for an individual, but that doesn't mean i cannot air my thoughts. After all I am only commenting on a person and there are ways to show dissent to mine & other thoughts.

I haven't claimed on my credentials deliberately but when a group of persons take the discussion into so personal manner like getting a job through quota etc., one is forced to reveal its identity. And to you, who gave you the right to call Sibal etc my boss. I have nothing to do with his remarks in whatever capacity he does. You seem to be so jealous of something related to me that you have also taken the discussion into personal defamatory mode. I would have appreciated your remarks regarding my views being wrong regarding judging the ability of a player, but you also proved that you are among those mass who have nothing to give to society intellectually but only criticism and that too like what Indian politicia

Perhaps Indian community including you doesn't like hearing anything adverse against someone and starts attacking the other individual personally and in very strange manner.

I again say that i may be wrong in assessing the ability of a person and it could be because i never played that game but have been involved with other games. I may be also be wrong in asking Sachin to retire but just on the basis of my thought, he is not

I couldnt understand what these Sachin bashers are talking about? Sachin in a sublime form and he plays better than so called youngsters? He was the leading run scorer in the World (India Team) and 3rd Best run scorer in the whole world cup. The fact, there is NOBODY to replace him now in the team. Guys, just imagine the Australian Team. How much they struggle after McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist and Hayden Retired. Earlier Australia were talking about their bench strength...We all know what is their bench strength :)....So, you guys grow up. See the performance and NOTHING else. Pls grow up.

There is no replacement today and will never ever be replacement for Sachin in future also.

Does that means he keep on playing for ever say for 1000 years.

Regarding Australia, just wait for next world cup which would be played on fast pitches in Aus-NZ. Aussies can force even Steve Waugh to retire who scored a century in his last match.

He should play as long as form & fitness allows.
If you can tolerate medicore & non performing player like dhoni (who clicks in one in 40 matches) whats problem with performing sachin who contribute in evry second match.
To give chance to younsgters, u can always replace non performing players like dhoni, raina, bhajji, nehra, chawla, praveen,Ishant, RP singh, yusuf etc.
Performance & fitness should be only criteria & not age.

Dear Ashutosh...
Do you think by saying all this Sachin will retire???
Imran khan came out of retirement and then won the world cup and he was really not at his best form as a player ..was gud leader..Anil kumble was not able to get wickets in his last 2 test matches that is why inspite of being the capitan he retired in the middle of the tournament. Shane warne was not at his best in last 2 ipl seasons also just let me know that was Murli at his best in the world cup or in ipl this season ..But unlike all the above players which you mentioned Sachin was indias best run getter in World cup .Is no 1 batsman in tests and is performing like anythin...I dont know about you but here in India millions of people think that Runs he scores are their runs they pray for his every single run, They cry with joy wen he is happy and performing. Its not about records ...you yourself know if the same record would have been with Ponting how much attitude would he have had...He(Sachin)is a humble person and let him do wat he is doing best...Also one more thing all the other players in the world go to bat alone but SRT doesnt go alone he goes with Prayers of Millions of Fans who have seen him performing alone in the bunch of 15 member squads in 90's, who have seen him performing best against Aussies and west indians and now against SA which is most cempetable Team in the wrld rite now....So let him Play ....

Also if u think he is playing for money, I think you must not have heard that he refused to endorse Liquor Add (Royal Challenge) for which he would have got Around 30 crores, he left it just because his principles does not allow him to endorse tabacoo or liquor...Now Dhoni is endorsing the same product...This sums up the value of the Man,Legend Sachin Ramesh tendulkar!!!!!!

It is a known fact that even in IPL, sachin is far superior than dhoni.
while sachin was highest scorerer in last IPL with 6-7 match winning innings, dhoni flopped in 11 out of 12 matches.
Even dravid/laxman better than dhoni in IPL.
All will be surprised to know that medicore dhoni ahs strike rate of 100 in T-20 international, lowest amomng top 50 intl players (no fiftty also).
But I agree sachin can't beat dhoni when it comes to luck, manipulative skill, politics & media management skill.
