IPL is trying to incite more regional feeling among already regionalist Indians.It is so absurd that even Tamil people are jumping in the name of Chennai although it is full of Dhoni,Raina and others apart from foreigners.
We should change the team names.There is no Punjabi in Punjab team,rarely any tamil in tamil team,rarely any new marathi talent in Mumbai Indians(that old Sachin still continues to take the space and spin money) the same is not the case of vicotrian or new south wales teams in Australia,they nurse local talents and there is total neglect towards north east India's representation in this money spinning and black money whitening fixer's tournament...in place of spending so much money to few cricketers,it would have been more responsible if Mallyas and Ambani's would have contributed in developing sports in rural India taking a cue from the Tatas...
It is also shameful that not a single current or present came forward in support of Anna Hazare.These shameless cricketers did not even protest when BCCI did not send cricket teams to Asian games and we gifted two gold medals to Pakistan,Srilanka.Cricketers are selfish personalSlaves of corrupt BCCI and corrupt corporates. I earnestly request all to boycottIPL and make it a flop show,cricketers already have crores of rupees....

Further, I don't see reason why cricketers should make any kind of political statements.
I agree with you on the wrong move not sending cricket teams to Asian games; here cricketers should have voiced opinions. Not sure if they did or did not.

I beg to differ.. CSK has the most of the local talent in Vijay, Ashwin, Anirudh, Badri.. Jakati is a TN settled player working for India Cements.. He to ocan be considered as a Chennaite.. Plus, Dhoni n Raina are too Indians.. They are far far better organised than the other teams..
The main problem with IPL is, apart from CSK and MI, we need to erase the memory of last 3 yrs teams and reinstall them again with new members.. I think its going to take sometime for the fans to get used to the new teams and support them.. Anywa, i agree that the IPL is not the same because of New squads, WC and Anna Hazare fasting!! May be, Lalit Modi would ve done something dramatic and grabbed attention towards IPL if he was there!

om, it is not negatively regionalistic. Every IPL team has a small number of local, and good number of national/international players. This is nothing different from New York Yankees, Mets, Texas Dallas Cowboys, Boston Red Sox etc of U.S.
I don't see anything alarming. In fact IPL should have new teams coming from k'shmir, north-east etc also.

Desis need to be beating videsh in their games especially when they hunt around in Asia-African region. Selectively winning, awarding, adopting, etc.
