This useless game gaining lots of unwanted importance. It is affecting national productivity. Media waste too much of their important time on this. For nearly 10 days both CNNIBN & Times NOw didnt have anything to discuss other than this. Where this country going. Are we mad? Guys this sport is the most unpredictable one where anyone can gain or score depending on situation, climate, supporting crowd etc. Look at Ireland defeating leading groups. Even Srilanka heppen to be in cricket during last 15 or 20 years? All crowds watching the games were maniacs. They were applying too much of pressure on Indian players and literally teasing and pushing down others. I didnt see any real sportsman spirit there.
Dhoni and Tendulkar have been following the policy of `I scratch your back, you scratch my back' for the past few days. First Dhoni said that God made Tendulkar to play cricket (as if God does not have any other work). Sachin reciprocated by saying that Dhoni is the best captain he has played under. And now the Bharat Rathna. Is cricket the only game played in India? Do not Sachin and Dhoni know that there is someone called Vishy Anand, a multiple world champion? He has been playing Chess as long as Tendulkar has been playing Cricket. Vishy is a multiple world champion, has won practically everything under the sun as far as Chess is concerned. Vishy's exploits has virtually started a Chess boom in the country and so many grandmasters, both men and women, have come forth! Cricket was pampered before Tendulkar was born, and continues to be pampered in this country at the cost of all other games. The Government is a silent spectator to this pampering, wasting tax payers money in announcing cash awards to already stinking rich cricketers. Rest assured, if ever there is a sportsperson in India who deserves to be awarded Bharat Rathna, it is Vishy Anand. All the others can only follow him. Perhaps you can give it to Harbhajan - he slapped Sreesanth on a cricket field and continues to wear India colours. Punjab beat Kerala - North beat South - for this alone Harbhajan deserves the Bharat Rathna! Finally, no one says God made Vishy to play Chess!!!

Cricket is followed with great enthusiasm by almost all of India which may not be the case with Chess or any other sport. We have to take that into account. Some regional language singer may be very good but Bharat Ratna went to Lata mangeshkar because of her follwoing in almost all of India. 70-80% people may not even know Vishy's name but 90-95% people would know who Sachin is and he has achieved.
