Cricket is like what p*rn is for s*xu*lly frustrated person
by ashutosh gupta on Apr 05, 2011 10:07 AM

In the country full of despair, corruption, and lawlessness, cricket serve as a way-out to overcome the frustration out like what a man wishes to do when he has hunger for s*x.

Like some make money out of p*rn, similarly some make money out of selling cricket to hysterically mad country of billions.

at least they (US/UK mad for football) come together to make their system run smoothly, however, we don't even think how our system is run. we behave with herd mentality wherein anyone comes and rule over us by either throwing carrot or showing cane.

What do they(Porki) think about us
by basangouda on Apr 05, 2011 09:50 AM

What do they think about us...? Whatever they say, whatever they do they think that we excuse them. But the fact is we are the silent killers. We made them on the knees in 4 wars. Kept away from IPL, the gold mine for every cricketer and kicked away from any resources that generate financial income in any sort. Better understand the strength of INDIA and be sub of us then you will breath. Coz within 5 years we will become the most powerful country of the Globe.

Amazing win
by indira on Apr 05, 2011 08:20 AM  | Hide replies

On the road to victory India has beaten the previous world champions in an amazing sequence. They beat West Indies - the 1979 champions in the last league match, Australia -the 1987 champions in the quarter finals, Pakistan- the 1991-1992 champions in the semi finals and Sri Lanka- the 1996 champions in the finals to regain the Cup. Well Done India!
It is equally amazing to note the fact that the Calenders of 1983 and 2011 are exactly identical day for day.

That's an amazing observation. Thanks for that - awesome coincidence. Especially, if you consider that India has defeated all the previous WC winners in order get it's hands on the trophy and no other team has won the WC. Truely amazing.

Building the team
by KVSK Prasad on Apr 05, 2011 07:56 AM

Dhoni and the team have indeed done a fantastic job that is due to inspire a whole generation. To inspire a nation of 1.2 billion is not easy.
Let us not forget the immense contributions made by Ganguly, Dravid, Laxman and Kumble. It was possibly these people who build the current team, nutured it and passed it on to Dhoni. Infact Dhoni himself was given a chance in the team by these cricketers.
And needless to say, I fail to understand when we will learn to give due credit to the likes of Vishwanathan Anand Or Abhinav Bindra. it baffles me on why we Indians extend an olive branch at other events. It sounds extremely preposterous for most of us even when we are asked to follow something other than cricket. The moment we talk of Cricket, the entire nation is in wilderness.

he played one knock on dead pitch and dew in 5 ytears and he going to make a lot of money off that haha.

gambhir is the most important player in indian team, even his knock against aus was the most important when india was in big trouble. Unfortunately MoM is given to people in the end who hit winning runs (when we are already in good shape)

wonder why sachin was not able to play a good knock on this flat and dead pitch and won the match for india...he rarely ever does that...

according to mister samit 91 not out is a useless innings...what great cricketing knowledge...

competition is on, guess for what. if Yuvi says sachin is the one and yuvi talking sweet about everyone from coach to the peon. Harbhajan does mannat with hands open says Mumbai his second home and Dhoni says mannat completed with head shaved.

Let us see if Team india will last as long as Australia did as champs ... this wont happen without proper captain and players rotation.
it would need, Captain rotation with proper mentoring and discussion between captain in rotation.

Facts to savor
by Kris Kane on Apr 05, 2011 05:11 AM  | Hide replies

#1 Dhoni is in reality, the greatest captain to EVER come out of Asia in all team sports - cricket, soccer, basketball, you name it.

#2 Dhoni is also the greatest cricket captain of modern era

#3 Its also high time we recognize that Sachin is the greatest cricketer ever - even greater than Donald Bradman.

#4 Sachin is infact one of the three alltime greatest sportsmen.. the other two being Roger Federer and Michael Jordan.

#5 If Dhoni had at least one quality seamer (to partner Zaheer) and one quality spinner (to replace or complement bhajji), this current Indian line up would give even the two strongest cricket teams to ever grace this game (windies line up of 1970s and aussie line up of 90s) - a good run for its money.

your first two points are correct. but how is sachin one of the greatest all time sportsmen? he may have the best record but these record breaking innings have always come in friendlly condtions and rarely ever, if at all when the chips are down and indian team is under pressure...

Don't know whether I agree with your first 4 points, but you are bang on on the 5th point. What we lacked (still lack) is a solid bowling attack

we lack a solid bowling attack. i suppose that is why regularly take 20 wickets in test matches and have been ranked no. 1 in tests for such a long time....

A flash back on sachin's career
by Rajan S on Apr 05, 2011 01:36 AM  | Hide replies

WC was the only thing missing from his otherwise illustrious career. Iam really happy for sachin.
Now he can undoubtedly be called the greatest ever in the history of the game. Except in 1999 and 2007 he has performed in all other wc's. Iam not aware of the stats of 1992 wc to comment about it but i know that sachin was just a 19 year old that time, to carry the expectations of a billion people. In 1999, he lost his father in the middle of the tournament and in 2007, india didnt last long unfortunately, for him to show his real class.
Out of the three times he performed incl this wc, India has reached semifinal and final once each and won the trophy this time. So that shows how much his performance matters to the team. This time also, whatever we say about luck etc, his innings of 85 and 53 against pakistan and australia was crucial in our wins.
Apart from reaching semifinals, finals and also being part of this wc winning squad, he was part of the test teams which registered series victories in england, pakistan, west indies and newzealand. He was also a crucial member of the squad that drew the test series in australia, south africa and sri lanka. Sachin was also a member of the saurav led side which won the champions trophy, earlier known as the mini world cup. And we all know his batting records which has already become unbreakable for his peers.
If this is not an illustrious career, then what else is?

@tendusach: I do not blame you..you are among those people who wouldnt remember their father's contribution in their life becuase they didnt contributed when you aksed for it. You were unhappy about your father because he didnt buy you expensive nike shoes like your friends for morning run...though he made you stand on your feet and teach you how to walk before you can even run. You are appreciative about your friends becuase they give you lift to the college in their cars, but you forgot that your father walked along with you to the school. You want to be along with your friends who pay for your cigrate and drinks and are in awe of them, but you dont remember that your father slogged his whole life to meet your ends. You are among those people...And therefore i have sympathy..not for you, but towards you father..becuase no matter what he did for you..you would still be an unappreciative as@hole
